Title: Alloy Conversion part of my project Facelift...
Post by: rick m on October 07, 2010, 03:37:19 am
Never take on too many projects at once.  Mine started out as a tranny change and ended up as a year and a half complete facelift.  Probably would not do it this way a second time but it is going nicely and soon will be completed.  One of the things I wanted to do was convert the car to alloys.  I had the front 6" late alloys narrowed to 4.5 width by Eric Vaughn.  In the rear I added 7" alloys.  Had to convert the 67 trans to short axles to get them under the stock fenders...but things are coming together nicely.

Still have to finish detailing and fitting the new side pieces in the engine compartment, do the final paint on the new deck lid and apron and assemble it all.  Will be ready for the GOODGUYS event here in Arizona in November.  Deadlines help me get things done.

Hey Dave, thanks for the feedback.  It is all finally coming together.  I wanted to return the look of the car to the early Cal Look.  So, I am getting close.  Stay tuned. Should be done and on the street by Mid November.

Yes, it is black trim.  Since I had no plans of welding up trim holes and repainting the car at this time I powdercoated all the trim black. It accents the window rubber and goes with the running boards.  The overall look is nice.

Just a note, the steel lug nuts are just for the time being. When the car is ready to roll out, the alloy black OEM lug nuts will go on the wheels. Rear tires are 205/70 Pirrelli's.  Here is a shot from the side right before I started on the deck lid and apron conversion, as well as the interior changes. 911 FUCHS just seem to say "Cal Look".
