Title: Original 5 spoke empi question
Post by: danny gabbard on October 14, 2010, 16:41:17 pm
When did they change pattern over to the second genaration type wheel? And has anybody seen stamp on wheel like these? These wheel have never been blasted or the lips polished, Makes me think the stampings are original

I've never taken apart of second generation set of those, Danny. Mine were 1st generation, I think, and always ran tubes on 'em. That TUBELESS stamp or casting is a trip.

Kinda weird huh, I have had a few sets and never saw a stamp. And it is some kind of ink stamp. Brushed on them 4-5 hours  in solvent tank and did not remove. I will run tubes, No way a two peice wheel will not leak some air from time to time .

Maybe it was added by a previous owner, to know how were mounted the tires on several sets of wheels  ??? Anyways I would too run tubes with 2 pieces wheels.
