Anybody got any sound clips of a hideaway muffler for a merged header?  Just curious of what to expect, have considered as an option for my new engine... kind of like the under-the-car look.  I've heard the ones for the heater box headers, just wondering how the merged ones sound.  ;D

Anyone?  I searched YouTube but couldn't find anything for the specific muffler I'm looking at, which is the turbo muffler that tucks under the engine (not beside the valve cover) and the tail pipe exists behind the right rear tire.

Dustblower :P And they still get in the way adjusting valves... I'm not a fan.

Had it years (10yrs) ago, not great! Dual QP's way cooler and better! Phat boy if you have to!

I had one on my 71 daliy driver back in early 90's ..I liked it cuz you didn't have to worry bout dragin it over anything , but would never use it on a hipo motor..! sounded just like a single QP to me..

They are good up to about 140ish hp.
The "dustblower" issue is equal on all to me known hideaway/sidewinder systems. That is why I for one has changed the exit at least 10 systems to come out behind the fender instead of under the fender downwards. As a free benefit you also reduce the sound in the car a good deal by doing that. - VERY significant in busses.

I have a Bugpack one sitting under my workbench. If your interested I'll let it go cheap. It has maybe 20 miles on it but it has been sitting for 19 years. I had it on a crazy 1776 with DMS crank, W140ish cam, 42 DCNFs and stock valve heads with dual springs from Darrel McNulty. I built it when I was 16 and it didn't work out, it's still under the bench too ;D

I had the Kymco setup on my 65. A few issues I had was rear tire clearance, it was about 1/2 away with a 205/65. Also the muffler hanger broke on the first one I had. Other than that they sound good and have great clearance.

I may take you up on that!  I'm looking for a stopgap until I can afford a Dynomax eventually.  Plus want something quiet with which to break in the cam as all the stuff I have right now is either for a heater box exhaust or else are stingers.

Do you have a header yet? When's the next time you'll be in the Rogue Valley?

Yeah, I've got a 1-5/8" merged header I got used, even has a bung for an O2 sensor in the collector.  Not sure when I'll be over that way next, but I'm sure I could figure something out on a weekend sometime soon.

I might try to make it over for the SOVW body work tech session this weekend, possibly.  If not, we'll shoot for another weekend sometime! ;D

No problem, it'll stay under the bench for the next 19 years. ;D
