What is so good about these pressure plate compaired to the new ones now??

If you're referring to what was marketed as a Kennedy "Maximum", 35 years ago it was the best thing going.
Similar to Borg & Beck 3 lever design it used a diaphragm instead of coil springs. It was easier to modulate
than a full diaphragm clutch, but at a cost of higher pedal effort. Although stories of fractured pressure plates
circulated, we generally used the 1700 lbs. or the Maximum @ 2100 lbs. plus with a fibre disk. That is until the
three puck disc showed up and tranny builders learned to smile like Cheshire cats.  ;D


Or at least that's how I remember it  ;)
