Title: Back at home the 1966 callook bug
Post by: 1957lowlight on October 27, 2010, 18:38:53 pm
Hi all,

After more then 8 years in a wet garagebox where it freezes in wintertime and is to hot in the summer, my 1966 callook bug is back at home in my warmed garage.  I own this car since 1994 and it is restored since 1997 and I feel it is time to tread it a little more with car now.

The golf6 has to sleep outside know, but then again, that's a company car, so I should not mind.

you should post a bit more pics of your car. it is actually a remarkably 'subtle callook' car (the ones with bumpers and trim,...). one of the nicer ones in it's genre in Belgium.  ;)

@ Nicolas: Thank you very much for this nice comment.  Sometimes I want to sell the car and build a new one, but when someone with your taste of callook gives some sweet comment like that, me and my car are meant to stick together forever. ;D

@ Wout: Maybe we should do this.  Xavier mentionned some years ago that he wanted to feature my car for Boxertje, if he still wants this, you can take the pictures ;)

But then again, Wout, getting this car featured in Boxertje is no priority as well  ;D

I will take some interior shots and it maight be a good idea to post some pictures for the beginning up till today.  The outside of the car always remained the same, but the dash did change a bit over the years.  I'm a vintage VDO pervert, so now I got the dash I wanted.  I come back on this when I have acces to all my pictures at home.

Hi all,

I took some pictures of the dash as it is right now and will stay forever :-)  The Empi GTV steering wheel was a wedding gift from my wife Eva, with who I'm married since 12 years (anniversary today!!), Shifter is a Early Bergshifter and all the VDO gauges are working perfectly.

Hi everybody,

How nice is this to get a revival of my car after so many years it was actually finished (1997!).

@ Tero: thanks for the nostalgia pictures.  The first one shows me when I was waiting for Ivan Mc Cutcheon to get the car featured for Volksworld.  I think it was 1999 or 2000.  I had no kids at that time and my oldest son is 8 now!   I do remember that I used this particular picture to communicate to my friend that I had bought a new project: the 1957 Ghia.

@ Wout: Good things come to those who wait  ;)

@ Pupjoint: I will take some shots, but nothing special there, I decided on the interior in 1996 and there was not much available for my budget, so stock TMI beige seatcovers went on.  I will replace the seatpads this winter to sit a little more confortable :-)

@ DKK Fred: I doesn't take a 1967 to create something nice, although I would love to own a 1967 on day, but when I bought this car in 1994, 1967 beetle weren't that hot at that time.  I was more then happy then, that it was a before 1967 model, so I didn't need to change wings and decklids to make it older  ;D

Thanks to Philips '66 I got in love with Cal-Look beetles.

I think this is a nice example of a classic callook car, wich is timeless and an inspiration for a lot of other cars!

And after 13 years it still looks as good as in 1997.

Just one small mistake about the year, one year to old ;) :) :) Just kidding!!

Thanks Philip!

I fully agree. I've had two 1966 Bugs and enjoyed them. To me, '66-'69 were the best four years for these cars.
