Title: how to fit rods?
Post by: nicolas on November 04, 2010, 20:21:34 pm
OK here is my question. original rods have a bump on them and that bump should point upwards when you assemble an engine. why? what is the purpuse? is it to balance the rods or is it to 'swing' it over its TDC? or is ithe rod offset to make it rotate better?

and how do you fit a H-beam rod? is it offset? or not? and what side goes up?

OR maybe it is time for a rod-topic again and have some intresting things said about them  ;)

Original rods have a offset.

Your rods need to be put on with the bearing tangs down.

that was the easy part? allthough i may doubt the offset part of it. as the tabs are both on the upside and if it is offset one side or the other has no benefit of them. at least that is what i think...  ???

edit: in case they are offset top to bottom
