Upon looking at some of the engines in this thread, I was wondering do those off-the-exhaust stud oil filter mounts fit in full-bodied cars? I'm intrigued and interested in this set up, just wanted to know if it would be viable in a street car. Title: Re: Engines.... Title: Re: Engines.... Post by: DKK Ted on December 18, 2010, 01:37:20 am Hey Art, the sumps I'm talking about were deeper, Doug sectioned 2 sumps to make the deeper sumps. The sump in the pic below, if you notice is STILL a 3 1/2 qt sump, the 2 that I'm talking about is almost as deep as the 4qt sump. Lots of oil. But remember, those tubes takes away oil for tubes with air. Would be interesting how this version will work on the street with the air going through. I would talk to Doug or Mark, Bill Boa (can't remember his last name, you know him) the guy in Nevada has one unless he sold it. He's in DKP II I believe. Maybe if he sees this post he'lll chime in. Always like that idea of those 2 vented sumps. Any vented sump, if it works.
Ted Title: Re: Engines.... Post by: DKK Ted on December 18, 2010, 01:52:02 am So The Action Is Go, what the specs of your motor, what kind of numbers did ya get on the GBE dyno? Like the set-up, very old school. When you get it in the car, let us know how it worked with that sump, would interesting to find out.
Ted Title: Re: Engines.... Post by: The Action Is Go on December 18, 2010, 04:00:54 am The earlier/old school the better. The only change to the engine is it will have a generator.
82 x 90.5 wedgemated Berg Carrillo rods K-10 Berg 50's Gary only did a few passes and best was 198hp with 010 point float (before the Stinger ignition). The sump was leaking from one of the tubes so it was plugged. Haven't looked at it since. Title: Re: Engines.... I started on this engine some 10 years ago, then got tired of the VW-scene and put it away, found new spirit some years ago to finish it. Mostly done in my small shed :-) A little cold now so I moved it indoors.. Its a 2387 based on a WBX case, with an old Pauter crank and Crower rods . Old S/F heads modified for turbo. Turbo spec cam by Skinne, TWM 55mm throttle bodies, dual watercooled intercoolers. 1600cc injectors for E85. Built for the street with Drysump, piston oil squirter's, full cooling with internal vanes, and so on. but will see the track! Smallish turbo compared to many racers... ;D reg C Title: Re: Engines....
