Title: '67 only vent window rain catchers?
Post by: nlvtinman on January 22, 2011, 17:58:15 pm
In trying to help a friend with a restoration, he says that the aluminum rain catchers found at the front corners of his US spec vent windows is a one year only part. That they are a different length than 65-66, or post '67 vent windows.
I looked at my '67, as well as several 68 and newer sets I have, all the catchers are the same length.
Can anyone help me verify that this is true?
Thanks
Steve

I did not know that Gary, but you  know how I am about those things. Took the 67 to jack,s this afternoon. Put the sway bar, radio, antenna, and narrowed tie rods on. I just got home about 30 minutes ago. Talk to you soon. Car seemed to drive much better on the way home. Went down 360 with all those curves to 287

From the lack of replies, as well as what I believe (and Shubee affirms), I will  say that a '67 raincatcher isn't any different than any other later model vent wing assembly.
My customer just has a his own belief that since a '67 has so many one year only items, the catches are the same.
Going to tell him that we'll reannodize the one's he has and they will be correct.
Thanks for all who looked at this post.

I just went and measured the ones on my '66. From the back edge of the glass/latch to the end of the catcher it is 4 3/8" or 111mm.
Measure yours and that should be a fair comparison.
Hope this helps.
