Title: Who makes a good stock size header
Post by: Jim M on January 27, 2011, 20:44:01 pm
I'm helping out a buddy on his first bug. Who makes a stock size header that has good heat conections. We want to run just a single quiet pack muffler.

Bugpack, Kymco and Scat all come to mind.  S&S Headers made awesome quality systems, but went out of business due to cheapskates buying cheap Chinese crap. The S&S single QP i had on my 1776 is the best-quality system I've ever owned, hands down.

Too bad it doesn't work with heaters.

I'd find an old Treuhaft header. It has cast flanges & collector, and the factory heat boxes by #2 & 4. It is the exact same as the old EMPI four bolt, but it's a 12 o'clock 3 bolt collector. Virtually indestructible.

If I had it my way, that's how they'd be making them still today... Scat made those style headers in the early '80s too, I think...

The original poster didn't suggest a price range/budget, but I'm thinking an original old school Treuhaft system would likely fetch a pretty penny, depending on the seller! ;D

It definetly has to work with the heater boxes. I have the old scat one that is cast and will post a pic of it later, but it is going on one of my projects.
