Title: Nubie here, looking for some information
Post by: PureC4 on February 10, 2011, 20:17:33 pm
Hi all, new to your forum, but you looked to have some different stuff going on here; and different is good.  Trying to find some information on aircooled front engine dragsters.  As to what kind of transmissions you are using and how you make it work.  This is totally new to me but I am playing with some ideas on my next project.  Need to know if I'm wasting my time or if it can be done using this platform for a street car.  As in front mounted aircooled motor, GM trans and live rear axle.
Any help would be great, look forward to talking, learning, and making new friends.
G

The most successful & by far fastest front-engined VW powered dragster I know of is "The Nail" built by VW Paradise ... www.VWParadise.com
Contact them. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.
Good luck with your project!
Tom

What about that New Beetle one? And I think there was a fiberglass bodied oval in Florida that used the same configuration.

Go Jerico! Air-shifted, naturally…

Don't waste your money on a Jerico. Been there done that. They broke and we were not even making the power we are now. That was back in the mid 90's. They are probably better now but we would not use it again. Liberty or Glide are proven. Lenco's work great but when you start adding gears the transmission gets longer.
