The Cal-look Lounge

Hi, I am considering removing my rear seat from my car just so it is more stripped out and I understand that this is a popular trend. 

Can I see some photos of interiors with no rear seats? Are any efforts made to tidy up the interior with the seat removed, ie a cover over the battery etc so the interior looks finished, or is it simply a case of removing the rear seat and that is all.  I still want to maintain a high standard of interior finish.

I removed mine long ago.
I'll try and get a pic later, but I cut out 5/8" plywood to cover the battery area then purchased matching carpet and covered it.
As for the back area, I used the piece that came with in my rear carpet kit; it's used to cover the back side of the seat back (vertical section). Anyway, I covered the section between the luggage area and the battery area with that piece. It fits the contour between the fenderwells very well, in my opinion.

Thanks guys, so the format is to pull them out and cut a sheet of ply to fit, carpetting it to match the rest of the interior.  cool.  does anyone run harnesses without a roll cage? if so how are you mounting them?

You can just see my Simpson lap belts mounted in the pics I posted.
No real good/safe way to mount the shoulder straps without a rollbar ...

I like my back seat..............Thank you very much! You can do alot with it, and it cuts down greatly on noise! I can hear myself think and talk with the passenger. So is it weight savings? Coolness? Both? :D

I originally took mine out everytime at the track, along with the spare, passenger seat and tools (and such).
When I redid the interior (you should have seen it before, hideous! black, black, black) I left it out for the main reason I have absolutely NO use for it! I rarely have passengers, especially more than one (too much weight! ;)) and I like the clean look. Not to mention, MUCH more room for cargo ... YEAH, RIGHT!
As for the noise ... INSULATION! It helps some.

      Yea, I am sure it does cut down on some weight. All you "Weight Weenies" out there are into that ;D ;) I like the less noise. I found by stuffing the seats with R19(I think it was R-19) insulation the noise was cut down huge amounts!!! I also replaces my Tar board with new OEM stuff.
      The no back seat does indeed look cool! I had one like that when I was a youngen. Now, at 45 I like it quieter! The roar is bad ass, but us old farts need our sanity on longer crusies................. ;)

WTF??????????? Don't get me wrong! ;) I love the sound too. Just I hear the sound of Caterpillars I operate 8-11 hours a day. I love the sound of my 48.........................DELLORTO'S too 8) :P

Not done yet, still have to make the some door to cover these access holes. They are going to be stitched up to match the front seats so they look like little jump seats.

Nice - VERY nice! Straight to the point. And the roll cage goes all the way down to the pan forks?
