Post by: Lee.C on April 02, 2011, 11:12:59 am
Hey There - I know there are a few Old Skool BMX freeks/Geeks on here so I thought you might enjoy this  ;)

A very good friend of mine Joe Rackley, A model Maker by trade and all round Good Guy who helped me out with LOTS of free machining & painting on my Manx is putting together this AMAZING little project - A perfect 1/3 scale PK RIPPER!!!!!!  :o

He is building/making EVERYTHING from scratch! inc 1/3 scale stickers, Tires, Handle bars, Seat etc etc etc -  The first pic doesn't look like much but check out the size/scale of the second!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a link to the complete build thread so far:  http://ipmsuk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=misc&action=display&thread=8038&page=1

I followed this on Rad BMX, it's amazing.  This guy must be the most patient bloke on the planet - I lost it putting a new chain on my GT Pro last weekend, I have the utmost respect for this guy.

Harolds video was cool but tottaly irrelavant to the 1/3PK ripper build which is just tottaly insane and bad ass.  looking at those pictures brings back such memories.  The MX 1000's and the type' 3's man just captured it so perfectly.  Makes me want to put together a vintage bike. I miss those days.

That bike is incredible. I still have a pair of AME grips like that on my 24" cruiser. Funny thing is I remember  all of those parts  when they were new. I never had a set of graphite tuffs w/ the campy hubs, I always prefered spoke wheels. but I did have the a pair of the single pinch flights & a few pairs w/o the pinch bolts.I always thought the Shimano platform pedals looked goofy until i tried some... Somebody has a lot of time and patience.

Absolute MADNESS! This guy is crazy talented.
I wouldn't know where to begin crafting those pieces.

I still have my Raleigh I raced back in the day complete with Haro numberplate, Bottema forks and Tuffs (not graphites though), circa mid 70s thru early 80s ... I quit racing in '82.
A couple of years ago they began reproing the SE stuff so I purchased my dream bike from the day ... Quadangle 24" cruizer. Still collecting parts ... should be a killer pitbike.
Funny the similar interests ...

So true, I know many VW guys into bikes. I really want to build a nice 26" bike  I just don't think it is going to happen anytime soon. My 24" almost seems too small anymore & forget about riding a 20".
