Title: TACO! Post by: Jon on May 09, 2011, 11:24:16 am How can we have a forum without a thread about Norway's national dish?
How do you stuff yours? ;D Title: Re: TACO! Post by: Jon on May 09, 2011, 15:25:50 pm As expected not to many takers... I just learned that we in Norway eat 180 kroners (22 euro) worth of taco shells each every year.
That's the same amount as Switzerland, Ireland, Netherland, Belgium, France, Spain, Austria, Germany and Great Britain combined. ;D Title: Re: TACO! Post by: Ragtop on May 09, 2011, 19:02:31 pm We eat a lot of that stuff as well here in Sweden. Friday night food.
Title: Re: TACO! Post by: Bendik on May 09, 2011, 21:10:29 pm I had a french friend who was amazed to learn that all norwegians ate "mexican" on Friday nite.. He had learned that it was a rule just like every man his own reindeer.

Post by: Jon on May 10, 2011, 11:40:30 am That is a safe bet! Norwegians don't have a lot of money, but they have a will to pay ::)

Post by: John Rayburn on May 10, 2011, 22:08:52 pm JHU, I have a different twist on it. I'm vegetarian, and substitute the ground beef for diced, fried potatoes. It's REAL good. I learned this from a real good Mexican restaurant in Santa Ana. Even if I weren't vegetarian, I'd still eat them with the fried potatoes!

Title: Re: TACO! Post by: kingsburgphil on May 11, 2011, 02:00:05 am stop phil , it's disgusting , i like mexican food and nothing here :'( :'( Sorry Fabs :D You could make your own taco's.....grill/steam some flat bread (Naan, lavash, pita etc) fill with grilled seasoned/sliced meat and shredded cabbage. Top with fresh diced tomato, onion, fresh coriander (if you can't get cilantro) minced jalapeno (or equivalent). A healthy squeeze of lime juice to taste and thats it. Except maybe a shot of decent Tequila and a pale beer chaser ;DTitle: Re: TACO! Post by: Berger on May 11, 2011, 07:38:39 am After I learned that carbohydrates are NO NO, I have trouble finding some substitutes for the taco shells, so somehow the fun of it is gone... :-\
The closest I get now days are taco pizza. Title: Re: TACO! Post by: deano on May 11, 2011, 15:38:55 pm I have some good friends in Reading, UK, and each time I flew to England for the annual Auto Jumble at Beaulieu, they would ask me to bring "taco" fixings in my bag. So, I brought bags of (real) chips, taco seasoning packs, cans of refried beans and Mexican rice, taco shells and tortillas and bottles of salsa. I showed them how to glue all this together, and all they had to do is get minced meat (hamburger), and the rest of the fresh fillings, and we had a feast. They loved it!

Oh wait! speaking of "Killer" taco's, do you still have that cat? :D Next time u guys are out here I'll point out a little dump here in Yucaipa that makes the world's greatest Garbage Burrito IMO --- --- lmao Ok -- The name of the place is Rosies, on Yucaipa Blvd. near the high School -- They also make a KILLER chili Relleno Burrito -- and pretty good tacos too Oh and that cat .. .. .. My son and I were looking at some of his home work the other night, setting on some Bar stools and that F-ing cat jumped straight up onto my back and dug it's claws in -- after screaming like a little girl -- I got my best swing in on it and it went about 15' and hit the wall ("But darling, I was just trying to get it to let go!!!") -- damn thing jumped up, ran up the stairs and hid under the freaking bed where I couldn't get at it without using a pole -- So I went to get a very special pole I have for removing cats from under furniture -- the wife stopped me as I was loading some ammo into it .. .. .. .. The cat stayed under the bed for a few days, ( I think the wife was feeding it behind my back) but I left a pair of work boots nearby just in case it did stick it's little head out. Title: Re: TACO! Post by: kingsburgphil on May 16, 2011, 07:25:01 am LOL!!! I think it's time your little furry buddy "chewed on a lamp cord" and achieved room temperature. Or better yet , "take it for a ride" in the Oval ;D
PS. Did I ever tell about the time we had El Gato taco's down in Algodones, B.C.? Title: Re: TACO! Post by: Fiatdude on May 16, 2011, 14:45:45 pm I'm thinking it is about time for me to enjoy that delicacy
