Title: WHAT ARE THE BEST...............
Post by: 65bug on June 02, 2011, 01:50:24 am
Header gaskets???? Tomorrow I will be putting my 1 5/8 head on my motor along with my like new /vintage S&S Dual quiet packs w/ Chrome flared tips. :o :o :o
Was just curious what gaskets you guys prefer and have had the best luck with? Solid copper? Metal outsides with gasket centers?

Thanks! ;)

I have been using Waterboxer exhaust gaskets between the head and header.  They seal well and seem to last.  The hole is plenty large enough for  1 5/8 header.  They are fiber and metal.

I use the same... Vanagon gaskets.

Thanks guys! I think I have one of those in my gasket box! Would it be this one? Here's a pic of each side!

That is a good gasket-I always forget which side goes towards the head the metal side or the fiber side.  I always use a SMALL amount of red high temp rtv too.

I use no gaskets, just copper RTV. No leaks since 1992
