Post by: lawrence on May 03, 2007, 05:51:00 am
I had my carbs jetted and my motor tuned and dynoed this past weekend. I am happy with the results being that my dad and I assembled this motor. We had the help of some great friends along the way. Can't wait to get this lump back in the car and DRIVE!!!

Specs: 1914, 8.3:1 compression ratio, ported 40x35.5 heads, webcam 86b, 48 IDAs, etc.

110 ft. lbs. and 63 hp @ 3000 rpm
118 ft. lbs. and 101 hp @ 4500 rpm
116 ft. lbs. and 132 hp @ 6000 rpm

Jim, you should see the graph I got after the dyno session. The plotted torque line is flat while the hp line goes upward smoothly. The reason why I couldn't get my motor to run right was a defective throttle shaft cam. The accel. pump lever didn't sit in the flat spot of the cam so when the motor idled the vibration caused the accel. pump to squirt. From what I understand this is occuring on some new IDAs. The jets are now 135 main, 55 idle, 170 air corrector and f 11 emulsion tube.

The trans, which is in riverside, should be repaired soon and then I can put the motor back in. I plan on driving to the classic this year with some friends.
