Title: Break-in with tool steel lifters
Post by: Jesse/DVK on June 10, 2011, 13:26:25 pm
I'm going to break-in my new engine this weekend. I'm running Thorsten Pieper tool steel lifters and I have some questions.

Do I need break-in at all? If not just start it up and than?
Cam lube only on the cam or also on the lifters?

Jesse

I installed the Udo Becker tool steel lifters in my 2332 cc and I did the break-in the same as usual-ie. 2,000 rpm for 4-5 minutes, then off to the races.  Have heard from others that break-in can be done at idle as well:

I was told there's really NO break-in on the tool steel lifters, but what could it hurt?
Assemble as usual ...

Perhaps the lifters don't need break in but what about your cam?

Just break it in just to be safe, won't hurt.
