Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: deano on June 14, 2011, 02:15:47 am There's nothing better than to see a photo of a freshly BBQed hamburger, ready to eat. On the other hand, seeing a truck load of raw meat just placed on the grille kinda turns me inside out. Note to self, only take photos of hamburgers once they have been cooked...
Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: Jason Foster on June 14, 2011, 03:06:45 am Sorry Deano to me that shot was more about the devotion, enjoyment, and club brotherhood of my fellow club members Dave Mason and Jim Kaforski doing what it takes to feed the troops. What that shot doesn't show is the care taken preparing the coals and the hand wrapped and prepped hickory pieces and wood chips for flavoring.

Post by: Rennsurfer on June 14, 2011, 03:19:31 am What that shot doesn't show is the care taken preparing the coals and the hand wrapped and prepped hickory pieces and wood chips for flavoring. DKK_Fred likes this! Plus, we had front row seats to smell it. SO MUCH WINNING GOODNESS! Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Rayburn2.jpg) Most of us still have our D.K.K. jackets from thirty or so years ago. Vince shows his off. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Vince.jpg) Some pictures need not any explanation. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Scotts.jpg) Mark "KATO" Ramirez en la casa! (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Kato.jpg) Patrick brought his nice Oval from afar. Cool meeting you at Nick's, sir! (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Patricks.jpg) D.K.K.'s Roy V. has a cool sticker on his Ruby Red '66. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Roys.jpg) Carl's Bug is very cool! (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Carls.jpg) This was the car that I spent the most time checking out. Nicely built and besides unique... 'tis rather easy on the eyes. Really dig the wheel treatment. One of my favorite wheel types also helps the cause. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11DBK.jpg) The engine bay is just too cool for words. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Heb.jpg) Gregg Bunch's steed. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Greggs.jpg) D.R.A. Very cool seeing them and their cars there. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11DRA.jpg) Our own Roy Maple's '67. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Maples.jpg) Thanks to DEEK Dan, we were treated to some incredibly tasty Hawaiian food. And thanks to HECKER, I got to wash it all down with a bottle of super dark/thick/strong Dogfather bier. Also thanks to DEEK Lisa for baking Nutella cookies! Just one more perfection factor that made up this year's smoothly ran event. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Food.jpg) CARLOOOOOOOOOS! (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Carlos.jpg) Before there was Audi... there was Auto Union. A rather superb representation of said marque. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11AutoUnion.jpg) You're not likely going to see many of these badges in this day and age. Beautifully done automobile. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11AutoUnion2.jpg) Sarge took his exhaust to new levels. I REALLY dig it! Best one of it's style that I've seen. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Sarges.jpg) Our own Joe "Skeeter" Larson's super clean '66. For those that remember, I posted pics of this car when he owned it thirty years ago and it was lime metallic green and had a cloth/plaid interior and Centerlines. A dream come true... he got his old car back and fully rebuilt it from the ground up. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Skeeter.jpg) I got lucky and scored a set of original Hella European tail light lenses for pretty cheap. They go much better with the t-bars and painted body trim. (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/MineClassic2011.jpg) I'd like to thank the Hole family (promoters) for putting on a very well put together VW Classic, this year. No lines, no hassles, just a very fun day. Well done! I still have more pics to process... but it's late and I'm tired. Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? I'll add the classic ones later if there's interest) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020612-2.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020613-2.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020614-2.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020615-2.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020616-2.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020625.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020627.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020628.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020629.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020630.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020631.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020633.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020634.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020635.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020636.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020638.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020639.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020645.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020647.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020648.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020653.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020654.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020656.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020657.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020658.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020659.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020660.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020661.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020664.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020663.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020665.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020670.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020671.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020672.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020675.jpg) (http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o319/s1368324/P1020676.jpg) Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: speedwell on June 16, 2011, 17:40:56 pm Greggs car is all kinds of cool , why stop at the muffler ? I want the whole thing!!! KG Guys, do you know what's this exhaust ? ??? (http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Rennsurfer4/Events/Classic11Greggs.jpg) I want it !!! :o back in the days Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: 61SNRF on June 17, 2011, 02:53:38 am What, nobody got a picture of MY new glasspack at Nick's/Classic? :(
[attachment=1] After struggling for two years whether or not I was going to take off the stock muffler, elrick talked me out of the Pee-Shooters! So, I finally put on an extractor exhaust and a Glasspack from Bill and Steve's just for old times the week before the Classic... [attachment=2] Yes, to quote an old friend, There's No School Like Old School :'( Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: Jos on June 17, 2011, 03:00:00 am That last yellow one is very interesting.... Thats what I thought Deano! While not cal look by definition, it is very nostalgic and looks like a car straight out of 1981. Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: So.Cal.Life on June 17, 2011, 06:53:45 am I guess you could be a good judge of my many personalities , strange things have happened my friend . KG
Greggs car is all kinds of cool , why stop at the muffler ? I want the whole thing!!! You'd only drink a ton of beer, fall out into the garage and chop it... Then look what trouble you'd get into?Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: Fiatdude on June 17, 2011, 07:41:20 am Well, Now you've done it. Putting pictures of Jon Scheers super clean red bug (the one with tan leather interior) on here -- that head is gonna get all swelled up now -- But that car is beautimuss. -- Thank god he is camping this weekend and will probably never see them

Not my cup of tea... a lot of those accessories are the sorts of things I would think are best left in the past...no offense to whoever the owner is, just not my taste. ;D Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: Cheesepanzer on June 18, 2011, 03:12:57 am Nice to see all the magneto's mounted up. I recently bought one for my cal-look build for that period performance look. Could this be a new trend? ;)
Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: . on June 18, 2011, 04:13:46 am One of my favorite Darrell Vittone quotes "I'd run a Joe Hunt just for the mojo !"
:) Title: Re: classic week end pictures ??? Post by: Fiatdude on June 18, 2011, 06:05:05 am I ran a mag in the wayback (1979-80)-- and took it down to Joe's for a freshen up -- man, his shop was buried way down in Torrance????? -- walked in there and there was nobody there but Joe working all by himself ( he seemed like he was 60 back then LOL)-- this shop was about 50' wide and a mile deep (from what I remember lol) He must of had 20-30 drill presses and assorted other machines all lined up and it was set up that each machine did one thing then he would go to the next and it would do the next thing and on and on was a cool setup -- so he gave my mag his blessing -- and he then goes, "You want to see my new hobby???". .. .. Well, Hell ya whatcha got -- So he walks me back through into another section of his shop (we are in the way, WAY back section by now) and he is restoring 60's Indy cars .. .. WOW, and I mean WOW. He has 4 or 5 of the old front engine Indy cars there in various states of restoration and I mean they were beautiful!!!!! I'm looking around and taking it all in and I look at this wall with pallet racks and start starring at it trying to figure what is on these shelves and then it dawns on me -- -- engines -- he has at least 20-25 Offy and drake engines -- still new and still in the shipping containers .. ... ... .. Wonder what all that stuff is worth today????
Sorry for the hijack -- just a great memory I thought I'd share |
