Title: Slip in 94mm Barrels... Post by: leec on July 24, 2011, 16:10:27 pm I have an ali case that is machined for 10mm case savers and 90.5/92mm Pistons (96mm bored)
I would really like to run 94 pistons, as heads are easier to come by, and have seen lowbugget.com do a 'slip-in' mahle 94mm barrel that fits in a 90.5 bored case, I believe the barrel goes from 97.25 to 96 mm I have had a frined say he has used them with no issues but wondered what other peoples real life experiences with them were. I dont think I can bore my case for actual 94's as the case savers are 10mm and it will get too thin ??? Lee Title: Re: Slip in 94mm Barrels... I just swapped camshafts last week and the cylinders look fine so far. I have almost 200 races on this kit (1/4-mile drag racing) as well as 8,000 miles/12,800 km of mostly city driving. I elected to go this route, as there was precious little meat surrounding the 8 mm case savers in the stock magnesium case. I've been running everything from 9.6:1 CR up to 10.5 over the years...currently 10.6:1 CR with 91/94 octane (Canada). |
