Title: Re: lightweight calipers Post by: Eric Ellis (57HotrodVW) on August 07, 2011, 21:07:00 pm David Crow Jr at http://www.crowbuilt.com built me a set of one-off brackets which allowed for mounting some Strange Engineering floating calipers on my spindle mount front wheels (which are designed for bolting on V8 style rotors - I went with Strange parts there too).
There wasn't a lot of room and the caliper bracket was built specifically for the parts combo that I have (wheels, spindles, calipers, and rotors). Here are some pics of my setup: (http://www.crowbuilt.com/images/parts/cb_parts3.jpg) (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/57hotrodvw/VW/brake3.jpg) (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f346/57hotrodvw/VW/brake4.jpg) The following thread is an old on from the CLF, and it contains some addt'l pics of other spindle mount setups that I gathered when researching mine: http://www.cal-look.com/forum/vw-drag-racing/killer-new-spindle-mount-disc-brake-setup-(pics) Title: Re: lightweight calipers Post by: dannyboy on August 07, 2011, 22:36:08 pm i have a set of bj disc spindles and a set of bj drum spindles and a set of neal wide 5 hubs/discs so i need a set of calipers that i can then get a set of brackets made to fit hubs
as im pretty sure that stock calipers wont fit the neal hubs/discs on stock disc spindles ??? that would be to easy ;D hope this makes sense :-\ :D |
