Title: Shift rod shortening Post by: jay c on August 13, 2011, 23:57:31 pm Hi. I've just moved my shifter back 3.5 inches and need to shorten my shift rod. Does anyone know if I can use my mig welder on the shift rod or does it have to be gas or tig welded. Hope someone can help as I don't want to damage it. Cheers jay

Title: Re: Shift rod shortening Post by: cassa on August 14, 2011, 16:32:13 pm Mig is ok. Would consider a short pipe inserted in the rod. Then weld the joint and some spotwelds through the rod into the pipe.
