Title: 67 cabrio lid repro germany
Post by: pupjoint on October 24, 2011, 13:53:47 pm
in the volksworld mag Feb 2007, page 8, on the review on he black Cal Look 67 belonging to ALex Taylor,  article mentioned the pressed repro lid was sourced from Jorg Beckmann in Germany.

Anybody has his contacts or has any information on this lid?

thanks

I see what you did there, Rick.

And if you're interested in one, and don't mind waiting till mine's done (to check the workmanship)...  I can refer you to my friend that's gonna build one for me.  It will look exactly like a factory one.

thanks guys,

deano, i am located at South East Asia, the place where moto GP was held last SUnday, shipping a lid over here from the US is $$$ and i am trying to check out what other options are available before going that route, especially if they are making pressed repro.  ;D

plus i do have friends in germany and some parts of EUrope who can hand carry back for me.  ;D

Originals tend to be either beat or pricey.

If you've got a nice one in your stash Deano, I'm all ears.

The one I found for AssHull's car was $250 I think, needed a bit of work but not bad. I thought that was a fair price.

Simple, really... because for some strange reason, most people are either on crack or are under a misguided notion that convertible decklids (especially '67) should go for stupid amounts of money. It's actually cheaper to build one than pay the current prices. Mine will only cost around $200 when it's done and will look perfect.

See me at Drag Day... I will bring it along just for the heck of it... deano

care to share some pics of the process Fred?  i can also get it done locally, but it wont look like the real deal, only close.

i have 2 options locally

1. cut and weld from a late model and lengthen the ends so they are equal at the end of the louvres.

2. knock by hand - this is a bit difficult as nobody has the real deal in this part of the world.

Hey there,
I know Jörg, he is lives 10 km from my hometown. The contact details cel posted are correct. I`m not sure if he speaks English. The vents are pressed into original sedan decklids. They are not welded in...
I planning to have one done for my 67 as original ones are hard to find in Germany.
If its done one day I will post some pictures.
Best regards
Stefan

Hi Steve,

if you are looking for an original 67 convertible decklid give Helge Ohmes a call. I found one on this year´s hannover 1st of may show swap meet and he bought it. As far as i know he wants to sell it.

Bye,

Tobi

P.S. Are you Stefan from Heilbronn who got an ovalwindow convertible rearview-mirror from me some years ago?
