The other accident at the same event was a lot worse. A 6 sec car flew over the barrier. Luckily the driver is ok and got away from it with a broken arm.

Saw that, too – but how often have you seen a car doing a burnout until the tyres burst, all by itself? There were definitely too many accidents and oil downs at that meeting. >:(

did the green light knock him out?  ::)
Did he even lift before he crossed lanes and smacked the wall?
Looks like a stuck throttle unless he was out cold with his foot on the gas?

I don't know how much you know about track safety but when I went through fire & rescue training with the SCCA, we were taught to wait until the situation stabilized before approaching a vehicle.
No point in putting yourself and others in more risk than the situation merits.

Looks like to me the safety team handled the situation pretty well.

Ditto that Rick - If one looks closely about 10 secs into the video, you can actually see that the rescue team has the lights on before or right at the car hitting the right barrier. It takes 2 -3 secs in reaction time to figure out what and how bad. Thatīs OK.

But looking the video over a couple of times, it soon becomes evident that the throttle has stuck already at the launch (?) Either its really bad luck or the vehichle check was less sufficient. (I do know it is always a trade off, but some things must be 100% every time.)

I hope the guy got away with it with only a pair of wet underwear.

The driver wrote on the chat Bangshift had going during the finals on Sunday that he passed out on the first hit and that is what kept the engine going on full throttle. He have a killswitch mounted according to the rules and on top of that he also have a killswitch on the steering wheel, none of which he was able to operate himself. He was very happy with the rescue team and sorry that his accident ruined the rest of the races on Saturday due to the marks it made on the track. The track crew had to fill the holes with a compound that needed to dry overnight.

Risky/brave enuf the safety crew passed behind the spinning tires.  :o
how can the car not move?
is it a massive one leg burnout, broken axle left side after two wall shots.

Hey BB.
He may have written that. But if that is the fact, why on earth didnt he lift when he crossed the left lane (?) He is either not being 100% straight, OR has balls of steel, - willing to take an encounter with the wall at WOT  ::)

We can only speculate. But judging from the vid, the front wheels most likely locked. The left side of the body might even be so damaged that it scraped the tarmac, that way braking the car.

But good to hear that he more or less got away with only a damaged pride.
