Title: Re-painting a 010 Post by: edcraig on December 12, 2011, 04:19:59 am Anyone have a suggestion on what type of paint is the best to match the original 010 body color paint.
Thanks. ...Ed Title: Re: Re-painting a 010 Post by: javabug on December 12, 2011, 05:19:31 am I brushed bacon fat all over mine and put it in the oven at 400°F for two hours. Not "factory correct," but it smelled awesome!

Not "factory correct," but it smelled awesome! And what did you serve it with? :DOtherwise I used semi-gloss black spray paint, applied in thin coats and oven baked. If you want a different look, mate an 010 with a VJR 383 dist. You'll need the cam, cap & rotor from the old-timer. I did this one back in 78', probably still works ;) Side note; For those of you noticing obvious technical flaws, I apologize. At the time I didn't know what an Okrasa motor was supposed to look like. Or for that matter a Rometsch either :D Title: Re: Re-painting a 010 Post by: glenn on December 12, 2011, 13:17:39 pm It's a semi-gloss.
Left is NOS and right is restored. (http://www.glenn-ring.com/temp/bosch_010_nos_rest2.jpg) Title: Re: Re-painting a 010 Post by: fredy66 on December 12, 2011, 13:53:11 pm where do you find the brown cap ?

Here on the west coast we use coco butter then sun bake. :-). As for the pant recommendations, I was looking for a preferred brand recommendation.
Thanks! ...Ed Title: Re: Re-painting a 010 Post by: johnl on December 12, 2011, 18:54:48 pm Bacon fat? No way! Here on the west coast we use coco butter then sun bake. :-). (http://www.glenn-ring.com/temp/bosch_010_nos_rest2.jpg) Looks good. Find a source for those zinc screws and it would be a perfect match. Title: Re: Re-painting a 010 Post by: glenn on December 13, 2011, 03:26:27 am Looks good. Of the (5) screws on the NOS 010, (3) are yellow zinc and (2) are silver. I have another NOS 010 that has all silver zinc screws.Find a source for those zinc screws and it would be a perfect match. I have one or two that are (at least were) black but they don't have a lick of paint on them. My apologies for going a bit off topic...
