Sorry for getting this news out late. For this weekend of 01/07/2012, we will go ahead and get together using the old format at Ruby's Diner as planned. If anyone has planned to come, that's great and you will have company.

There will also be another meeting next week, 01/14/2012 for the first "official" get together with the new format of the year.
 This thread will get bumped later in the week as a reminder.

Future events of Bug's for Breakfast will now occur monthly on the second Saturday of the month unless announced otherwise. We will continue to meet at Ruby's Diner in Whittier. Hope everyone can make plans to attend.

But, I have spoken to the locals and a few of us will still be meeting up this Saturday July 14th to have our regular Bug's for Breakfast gathering at Ruby's Diner in Whittier. Hopefully there will be a special guest with his Drag Racing themed vehicle in attendance for our inspection :-X

Anyone interested in doing two things with their Bug all in one weekend is welcome and encouraged to attend ;D

It would really be nice to see a few people show up at a small shopping center
in a very non-auto relevant city like Whittier on Whittier Blvd.

( I remember cruising there once or twice) but that was long ago

I can remember driving 25 miles or more one way to get to a RALLY,
then drive to the pizza joint, then street racing at Nabisco, then drive HOME.
And the very next day driving the same 25 miles to DVB clubhouse for
a meeting. I did that so often, when I was President of the Club I would stop at
the clubhouse and sleep an hour or so  before driving home !!!    :o

Is it really so much to wake up and spend a couple of hours with like minded
folks and eat breakfast????   Maybe we should move it to Nick's ???

Imports are not allowed on the friday nite thing.  I was told they are trying to avoid the Honda tuner crowd.  Unfortunately this lumps classic VW's into the mix of non invited.

We tried other locations and other times, but this one has been the best for most.

I've been around forever in 75 or 76 I joined DVB, left and later formed a new club
with some standards.  After a long absence -- Now I try to hit every event  I can
with my black 67 I have had since 78 !!!

Nice looking car John, perfect stance.
Hope you can make it too so we can see it up close. I'm sure you will have a good time.

The green '67 belongs to Dean, a good friend and neighbor of Ed Craig. He has owned the car since the '70's I think. He is a regular for breakfast, so we can get more info and pics next time.

Hey Ron and John, well, to me it's just scheduling of attendees, for me it was just projects that need to be finished. And one is to complete my car. We have Drag Day coming up and other VW events, I know at least two. Anyway, I have have lost NO interest in attending, it's in my back yard pretty much. But sometimes a different venue may help. I know of a Mexican Rest, that will accommodate us in Whittier on Whittier Blvd. a very cool place, and kick back place and allot of parking. Was even thinking of maybe a DKK outing there, but need to talk to Rick on that one. But for just a place to have some breakfast and BS VW's, this is the place, my wife and I have eaten there allot, very good food, and a variety of dishes. I have some pics of the place I can post, but have to download from my phone. But the bottom line is variety, to me. When my car is on the road again, I will be back where ever it's held.  ;D  8)

Maybe one thing to do is spread the word a little more, post on other forums or websites, new blood is always good. Just like new places. Invite other clubs, like DRR, hear they have some cool cars!  ::) . The one's with websites, post on them if ya can, or leave them a message. We can do it!!  ;D

I don't know if I should respond as I'm not a regular by any stretch. BUT: Whittier is kind of a hassle to get to if it's not in your backyard. You may want to get back to mixing up locations. Personally 2nd Sat can be a deal breaker for me and a few other Deeks.


Let me know what you have in mind.. maybe DKK can "host" a BFB.

I will agree that the Ruby's venue in Whittier is getting a little old. Not only is it hard to find and get to, the basic food and service is also below par IMHO.

It would be nice to find another iconic and historic cruising spot to meet at, and I like Mark's idea to hold one at the Bob's in Downey.

I do know of another fantastic place, both for it's excellent parking and somewhat easier to find location about 1.5 miles east of the 605. If you read the reviews here, you can also see that their great food brings people back time and again...

I'm a little bias toward Ruby's as its almost in my backyard, but am open to try somewhere else if everyone thinks its a good idea.  Honestly, I don't think the location is the issue.  I would have been there this past saturday, however I was already committed to a local car show over in La Habra. 

I enjoy the event but would really like to see more attendance.  I'd keep it at Ruby's. move it to the 1st saturday of the month and get the word out.  You know...Nicks has been pretty light in the way of attendance lately too, maybe its just a summer thing and will get better in the fall?

It was a fun show.  Hope you and some of the DKK gang can make it next year.  We had a few VW's this year.  A guy and his wife had a nice looking 62 sunroof and a 67 sedan parked next to me.  A local guy I know, (another Mark), has a cool looking bus  (see pic).  Its not cal look, but pretty cool.  Also a guy by the name of Dan had a great looking squareback.  Dan won coolest car award.  I got the best import award. 
I'm in michigan this week on bussiness and will post more pics when I get home.

Car Show at Cable Airport in Upland. It is a nice little show -- only $10 bucks.

There is a coffee shop located walking distance from the show. It is called
Maniac Mike's .....so that is where I will be enjoying breakfast with my bug.   ;D

I won't be able to make it this month, way too many things going on. The Cable Airport show would be a nice venue, and I hope there is a good turn-out, but I can't make that one either.

I'm thinking we should just plan the next and all future B4B's on an off VW weekend. That way, more VW people would be looking for something to do. After October, there is little to do around here. First, Second or third Saturdays make no difference to me.

As far as venues go, we have always been open to new ideas. If anyone has any good spots or favorites for suggestion, they will be gladly considered.

So....is it happening this saturday?

Where Ed?

It's Operation Santa Car Show in La Habra at the CVS Distribution Center this Sunday. (Lambert Rd and Harbor Blvd) I'll be there with the Ghia.  There's usually a few other local VW's there too, but the majority of cars are domestic.  I haven't done this show before, but I know the lady to organizes it and she does a great job with other shows.

My Ghia's pretty dirty from last weekends DKP Cruise, so after B4B I'll be home cleaning on saturday

My schedule has now gone back to Sunday Mondays off so I can't make Saturday BFB the show Sunday Sounds fun I may just show up there.  Is there preregistration or just show up?

I'm guessing that pre-registration for the show is now closed, but you should be able to enter the day of the show too.  Pre was $15.00 plus a $10.00 toy, so it might be a few bucks more on Sunday.  Show entry starts at 9:00.

B4B is on for this Saturday (the second Saturday of the month :D) December the 8th at the Ruby's Diner Whittwood Mall location.

Confirmed guests so far are Ed, "Crazy" Joe Kossky, Larry R, myself, and the gang from the VW Goldmine in Whittier. Please plan to attend if you can.

I've got some other things to do late morning, but will be there with plenty of time to enjoy Breakfast with friends.
