Title: suggestions for shipping
Post by: bugnut68 on January 10, 2012, 20:01:36 pm
I've got a set of what appear to be non-merged, never used S&S Headers dual quiet pack mufflers I am considering putting up for sale, but am struggling to find a suitable box to ship them in for the inevitable requests on shipping costs.  Any ideas of some creative ways to package such a large-scale item for shipping purchases?

You might check with a local bike shop. My guess is that the box that a 20" bike ships in will be wide enough to fit the QPs in, but not overly thick. You'll probably have to trim the widthof the box, or use the extra area to load with packing material.

I like to wrap the pointy parts where they might contact the box with an extra layer of tape/cardboard.
Also, my local UPS store has been pretty good at boxing/shipping things, all the way up to palletizing big stuff $$  ;)
They even deliver our refrigerated biologicals before the heat of the day and our usual afternoon delivery time.

Get a box from a super market to toy store. Also you can piece together 2 boxes to make them larger.

I used 2 boxes from a bike store to ship my dual QP mufflers to Jet Hot for re-coating. The boxes were "chopped and channeled" and a good amount of tape was used.

That's a good idea, Glenn... I've already got a couple Loungers expressing interest in the mufflers, so if they go overseas I want to make sure they arrive safe and sound.
