Title: Deep 6 Fuchs, short axles swing, 205 tyre, redrilled late drum
Post by: pupjoint on January 16, 2012, 02:41:07 am
trying to make up an order from pelikan, planning to order the press in studs and spacers together, OEM or Porsche if possble.  I know the Fuchs need 30mm of protruding threads, hence think thickness of the spacers will determine the stud length i need to order.

i am currently running 205 70 R15 Michelin radials on 5.5" wide BRMs now, 66 Bug, original short axles, stock 66 drums, no touching or rubbing issues.

planning to swap with Deep 6 Fuchs, 15 x 6 no heart. any idea how thick spacers I would need to put?

i am more than happy to buy new smaller tyres if i can do away without any spacers.

currently away from home and car, so unable to do any trial fitting to confirm.

also, has anyone fitted 145 tyres to 6 inch wide rims before?

all the 4 pieces i got are the Deep 6, slowly locating for other sizes.

You could just swap to type 3 drums to get the extra width...

thanks, but not a viable option in my place, finding a pair of those Type 3 drums in good shape or even brake parts are even harder than locating another set of Fuchs.... :'(

I run a similar set up-

66 with short axles, 205/70's on Gas Burners (Fuchs 36mm offset 'burners are 42mm), late Type 3 hubs and drums and a 10mm spacer. I think I used a 42mm stud.

I have same setup:

-59
-short axles,
-later drums redrilled to 5*130 and shortened the nose of the drum (10mm i think)
-25mm adapters (not just spacers, there are studs in the adapters so you don't need extra long studs)
-6" fuchs with a 195/70 goodyear gt2 tire and no rubbing issues after fitting the adapters ( fenders are perfectly filled)

- I also fitted 145r15 firestone f560 tires on the front ( tires are a bit stretched but i works, still, i'm in doubt to have them narrowed)
