Hi i have a 2276 consisting of cb performance case, 42x37.5 heads, web 86b cam, etc etc, with full flow oil and large external cooler, no fan, mounted above the gear box, with a berg power pulley, full tinware except for the rubber skirt. For carbs i have 44idf on big beef manifolds, with 55 idles ,f11's, 150 mains and 195 airs.

Now the problem im getting is that the inlet manifolds are hot to touch, which i have been told is pinking? the timming is at about 32 degrees and my oil temp is reaching 210'F+ which is worring me abit. (it reached 250'f)

My main worry is the hot manifolds and how to fix this?

Im going to check my oil sender in hot water and double check the timming, i was wondering if my jetting is to lean?

Could really do with some help, getting a bit fed up of this bloody engine grrrr.

Put that oil cooler down in the airstream, swap out the power pulley for a standard size unit, and get that seal back where it belongs. Bet your problems will go away.

i would question why no fan on a street motor? and yes zack engine seal a must, but i never had any heat issues when running my berg power pulley on the street

theres no fan on the cooler atm, i thought it would be cool enough here not to need one tbh, i maybe wrong.

You won't need a fan. Just get it in the airflow. How fast is it reachin 210? Highway driving? Idleing?

Before I would go suggesting ANYTHING I would want to know more motor specs!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Was the case a new case?
2. Whats the compression ratio?
3. What type of gasoline are you using?
         Many times it's numerous little things that make up a large problem. You should not need a remote cooler if everything else is correct. I have never needed one and my motor runs VERY cool and is very reliable!

C/R, fuel, AFR, etc... are all key fators.  Why would you run full tins w/o the engine bay seal?   You do understand the reasoning for running tins, right?  Dog house oil cooler, sealed off as well?  Anything blocking the fan?  Oil cooler will get pretty good air flow on the left or right side of the trans, just behind the torsion housing. 

You don't need a fan on the cooler when you're moving, but if you're stuck in traffic on a hot day it's a good thing!
Behind the torsion housing, parallel to the ground is where I like them... But I agree, if you have everything set up properly, you should only need an external cooler for insurance. Or if you live somewhere absurdly hot like I do.

ZACH....we in Arizona know something about heat.  I would up those idle jets to 60's if it were me.  Most of your driving at low RPM is on the idle circut....until after about 3,000 3.500 rpm. I have my 2275 running at 180-190 while hwy driving without my fan on the aux cooler.  When I do a good blast it will climb to 210 but come back down when just cruising. 

I am running IDAs on my motor. I have the CB heads as well.  I put a post up about this a little while back to see all the feedback I would get. Got interesting. I will be driving mine in April from the Phoenix area up to a show in Nor Cal and back.  Temps by then (ambient air) in Arizona will be over 100.  Will keep you posted on my drive and results.

210 degrees for oil does not come across as too hot too me... I was always under the impression that prolonged stretches at 220 or 230 and above were a sign of excess heat. 

Do you have a cylinder head temperature gauge in your car? 

True, but not everything else is correct. There is no seal.
Before I would go into changes and modifications I would repair what is wrong.

Ah, I missed that part in my first read through... yeah, that engine bay seal makes a HUGE difference.  I'd wager that's a large portion of the issue... I also didn't notice the OP said that his oil had hit 250 degrees F, which is most definitely way hot.  All I saw was the 210 figure, which didn't really jump out at me.

i had a 1300 single port that almost overheated due to a missing engine seal. so, IMHO that's telling a lot...

seal getting ordered tmoz plus found out the carb idles were lean so that may of not helped, standard pulley is going on at the end of the week, ill keep you posted  ;)
