Title: What head studs?? Post by: leec on March 20, 2012, 21:01:40 pm Hi Guys,
Almost got all the bits to have my new race motor built. One thing I do need are head studs in 10mm size. Brief engine spec is 2276cc, fk89, wisecos, comp eliminators 48x38, IDA's and 12:1 cr What do you recommend? Links to suggestions would be ace Lee Title: Re: What head studs?? Title: Re: What head studs?? Post by: Torben Alstrup on March 23, 2012, 04:07:02 am While Raceware is a very nice and stout product, there is no need for them in such "mild" engines. Std CB/Scat 8 or 10 mm studs holds up fine up to about 12,5/1 CR with an FK89 and similar in the 230-240ish range. With turbo or nitrous of the serius kind Raceware is the ticket.
The CSP stud kit is ok. I dont like the nuts, and always replace them, and use the CSP nuts for rocker arms etc. T Title: Re: What head studs?? Post by: BeetleBug on March 23, 2012, 07:12:10 am Are the 10mm original studs good enough the Red Baron I guess they should be good enough for most of us?
Title: Re: What head studs?? Post by: Ragtop on March 23, 2012, 08:57:16 am I am not in the same league as the Baron but I also use VW original 10 mm.
Title: Re: What head studs?? Post by: Shag55 on March 24, 2012, 01:02:08 am OG studs are fine. I use the Raceware's on mine but they are turbo motors. I'd go with ARP nuts with the OGs.

Then I started buying at Raceware from Randy Hubbard in 1994. Quality and excellent service in combination. Never looked back. Both headstuds and through the block bolts. Title: Re: What head studs?? Same here, Scat 8 mm studs and nuts, with JPM 48 x 37 heads, 10.6:1 CR, 94 mm Mahle cylinders (slight trimming of the grooves required to clear the studs). |
