Title: steel cage vs plastic cage gear bearings Post by: pupjoint on June 16, 2012, 14:10:38 pm i found some steel cage bearings, anyone knows what year of gearbox they come from?

I can't remember when the change happened, maybe 67-68???
Everyone prefers the steel cage bearings because of the longer rollers. It should reduce any rock the gear may have. When I build a gearbox to be used with a stock engine, I put in the plastic cage bearings. If there's a big engine, it gets steel cage bearings. |
