Ask JPM!

Nope, he would get the correct answer - not an opinion.

I was under the impression that the 86c was the next best thing behind the Raptor cams?

FK46. :)

Almost same engine that you have exept lower compression (11.x:1) and 44 intake valves it made 195whp@6700rpm and 230NM (234hp/266Nm at engine).

Whats "best"? ...more power or long life/silent valve train?  Many cams are designed the modern way, but usually the power is lacking...  JPM's cams have both...

should have said it's for drag only so not bothered about long life or quiet valve train.
The lifter bores have bronze bushings and i'll be using tool steel lifters..

The 86C is a killer cam. But in an engine like that with 13+ - 1 CR better choices can be made. You dont build an engine like that an want to drive it on the street much...

IŽd also say FK89 or the new 2290 (I think) from CB. if you are ready to step up to a Ratptor, that would most likely give you most HP, and definitely the lesser need for valve spring tension.

Thanks for the clarification, Torben. I've got a 2332 longblock that I hope to stab that cam in someday...

Re: best aspirated cam
I have a xr328 on a 106 and TP tool steel lifters. It was made for a Super Stock motor. It was on a 106 to help get out of the hole with such a big cam on a smaller motor. 240-250hp.
With a big motor say 280 really no need for a tight lobe center.

I've seen a engine block with a split-cam with FK4x on the lobes.. Lifter bores did not look to happy

I know, I used one myselves in a alu case but luckily I got it out before it did any damages.
