I see no reason why two Pro-Controls should not work?

Its been many years since I ran one but I remember my Pro Control cutting the ignition off at the rpm and coming back on , not stuttering like a 2 step. I do not miss the mag. You may want to try a throttle stop setup, you adjust it to your staging rpm and when you release the button it will go to full throttle.

Don't use the pro-control as they just ground to earth....like switching the engine off and on again....fine for a computer but not a hi-reving VW motor :)
I've been using these     http://www.etcrevlimiters.net/2008/08/magneto-rpm-swtich.html    we put one on Lee's Dauphine to make boost on the line...worked a treat and Hank is a nice guy....give him a call to get the correct model. You need the dual range one...they're not cheap but nothing that's any good is......Good luck.

sorry for the late reply

I think Lucus had one fitted to his oval when i last saw him, said it worked well.

do you have a rough idea on price Ian ?

About $400 and shipping is cheap 'cause they weigh nothing! Best to call him (Hank) and tell him what you need and get a quote.....they're designed for V8s so you have to half the imput rpm setting to make it work on a VW but like I say I've used a couple and they do the job without 'hurting' the engine unlike all the others made....clever bit of kit....and you know I hate gizmos ;-)

Quick update

Managed to score another mag with a ETC  limiter, it arrived with an auto meter rev limiter as well

It appears that they had been running the ETC limiter and the auto meter limiter together ?? Not had time to sit down and figure out the wiring to make his possible yet and couldn't see any real advantage when you have the dual range on the ETC limiter anyway.

Do you run a second rev limiter as well on your cars Ian ?

Hi ron, they probably used the ETC as a rev limiter and the autometer as an RPM switch for a shift light, although some ETC units do both ,hope that helps.......lee

Thanks lee

Yes it helps, couldn't see the point of running both
