Title: pick one, just one...
Post by: nicolas on July 31, 2012, 17:48:02 pm
i wanted to see what the one car you want to drive for one day. say it would be possible to make it happen. but, just one, think of winning the lottery and having to spend it in one day. i know a few come to mind and it will be a consensus or maybe not, maybe there is just one that makes the cut.

for me it would be the raceshop slalom car, if it runs as good as it looks it would be a very memorable day.

Easy  Doc Brown's Delorean , then I'd zip back buy up all the cool missing old gassers , lock em away and blow your minds tomorrow  ;)

That is a very easy answer for me as it was 49 years ago TODAY that I took delivery of my Econo Motors Ruby Red Sunroof.  No question in my mind that it would be the car, but unfortunately that can't be............      :( :( :( :( :( :(

Agreed-but it would have to be one of the 6 long tails designed by Pete Brock that Carroll Shelby made and not one of the many copies out there. and with the 4 48IDAs.

An alternative: The 427 SC (supercharged-only 2 made-one for Bill Cosby (later destroyed) and for Shelby himself).

Ha ha ha... Great subject! I have been so lucky to drive quite a lot of my dream cars through my old job in the historic race car scene. Many of them were as good, if not better than I ever imagined. Some were absolute letdowns, particularly the Italian cars. :(

My all time favourite I would love to drive would be a 60s Muira in Viper green. Oh yeah!

Well Nicolas basically said  "Money is no object" so it would have to be one of the original 6  ;)

Interesting choice... if you're going that route, why not the fully enclosed version.

This is too easy. Anyone of the six Bugatti type 41 Royales, preferably the Kelner coach that was owned by Briggs Cunningham.
I had the pleasure of being at Pebble when all six were brought together, plus a recreation of the Esders roadster.
I can say for a fact, the spectators spoke in hushed tones as if in the presence of a Deity. Truly a once in a lifetime event.

Ahhh, 917-001.....the vip "taxi" in the Museum

I would prefer 917-023, the Porsche Salzburg LeMans winning #23 now located in in Texas

is this the 65 or 66 car in Italy?

From what I understand the '65 car (Prudhomme) and the '66 car (Snively) are the same, but with a lengthened chassis. I haven't been to Italy to see it yet, I makes me sad to see racecars sitting in a museum collecting dust... :(

Your choice (Greer Black Prudhomme) would be an option too  :)

Ok been thinking hard about what car I would really have.
It has to be this one for sure.
I remember the first time I saw the car in the Gimme All Your Lovin' video back in 83.

This would be fun :o

I have actually driven that one!!  ;D ;D
Well, it didn't have a motor in it, but I was at Bergs sometime around 2002 (18 years old) and the second building was open, so I was starring at it and Clyde was moving stuff around and asked me to jump it and steer for him so he could move it outside.  I jumped right in, looking around feeling at home!! It took me an extra couple seconds to get out once we were done and ill never forget it.  Especially since I had pictures of it on my walls at home and was doing everything I could (afford) to make my car look like theirs.
