Title: broken fanbelt
Post by: Peter on August 01, 2012, 12:29:34 pm
Hello,
My cousin's motor seems to be a belt eater!
i think he already bought like 10 new belts...
they either break or they jump off...
the pulleys are aligned well but still problems...
You guys know what could be the cause?
its a normal size scat pulley ..

cheers, P

Causes?

Pulleys are actually not aligned well.
Top pulley adjusted so that the belt is ridiculously tight.
Using a 1/2" belt instead of a 3/8" belt.
Pulley surface is gouged with sharp edges.

i think its a 900 mm gates.
pulley surfaces are new,
10 mm wide

its a 2165 in a bus...

if we loosen the belt, it flips over.
I ll check re-alignment again...
 thanks!

What brand bottom pulley? you may find it needs a 9.5 wide belt to keep it on,some pulleys dont have a deep enough of a groove cut in them
