The Cal-look Lounge

Preparations are now taking place for 2013’s  UK Cal Look Drag Day.
We already have support from the top UK Race and Cal Look clubs and looking forward to welcoming along many of the quickest Flat Four Hot VW’s from the UK and Europe to the first of 2 events this year.

Shakespeare County Raceway 6th-7th April.

The California Look Drag Day is a drag racing event based around the spirit of 60’s and 70’s California, surrounded by fire breathing Aircooled Race cars and Cal Lookers held here in the UK at Shakespeare County Raceway.
Racing is open to flat four VW powered vehicles that are capable of completing the ¼ mile in under 15.99 seconds.
Spectators are welcome to come and enjoy the atmosphere.
This event is ALL ABOUT RACING, aimed at the true petrol heads of the VW scene. The camaraderie of fellow racers and the roar of the flat four is the entertainment, dressing up is strictly limited to race suits and helmets. Any dancing which takes place, is from inside the vehicle and involves a steering wheel and an attempt to launch in a straight line.
We hope to welcome as many of Europe’s finest Hot VW’s along to Shakespeare County Raceway for this, the fifth annual Cal Look Drag Day .

Well naturally , but I can do that at any set of lights around town  ::)

To answer the question as honestly as i can. The exact format has not yet been sorted. We usually run against the v8 guys.
If enough people book early then we could make it vw only..depending on if there is a sign on limit for the day.
Saying that we have not yet discussed every detail with shakey, as soon as i know i will let everyone know.
We do have the option of running elimination rounds over the weekend so that would make it vw only..

ran 11.9 on shakedown run na but almost fooked the motor before by fitting the oil lines the wrong way round  :o :D

Whoops,that usually just blows the filter,serious restriction to the engine for sure,how did it feel? car and track?

oil light came on as i had complete loss of oil  :o but everyone helped out and it was back on the track in a hour or so it felt very strong i did a few poor 60fts and revved it to around 7 and it pulled really strong i think itll do well if i can get it to hook up ;-)

track was a bit slippy but it was really good to get back out hopefully itll be as quiet tomoz as there were no ques i reckon a boy racer could have got 30 passes in today easy

Looking forward to going tomorrow.  Should be a few of us  ;)

Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone who played a part in the organising of this event, I certainly had a good weekend and I got the impression everyone else did too!
Can't believe you booked the sunshine again too, not sure what that cost you but, more of the same next year please.
