Some issues when he shifts to 4th gear but dig this:

1.25
1.25
1.26

Unfortunately I did not get the 60ft on the last pass.

Really promising!

Well Done Richie,

Am I right in thinking the car has tax+mot, I know that was his aim at Volksworld show?

Well done Richie ;D

Looks like the time and effort you have put in to rework the rear end of the car has paid off.

Yes car is UK Registered, MOTed and Taxed, and tomorrow if he gets the little hicup in 4th sorted he will have all the power in 4th as well, drop the tyre pressure a little and HOLD ON....

Richie, well done i know how much you have worked and wanted this and with a little bit of luck on top of all your efforts you might just make the next step, TOMORROW.  ;) ;D

All the best

Team VW Gasser Garage.  ;D

Lee, today was the pre-European Finals test day, tomorrow until Sunday is the Euro Finals itself. According to Spencer it's virtually all Sportman classes tomorrow before the Pro classes (FIA basically) get to have a go on Friday. Richie is entered in Super Gas, so he'll have to slow it down to 9.90, unless he moves up to Super Comp with the 8.90 index! :o
I'm there tomorrow on a school trip! I'm bringing nearly 20 kids and three other staff for their first experience of drag racing... ;)

According to the entry lists, Rich Merriman is in Street Eliminator in his Beetle which I believe is a high 11-second street car, Nigel Green is in Pro ET in his 10-second 1303, and Russ Fellows is in Super Pro ET - this is for 8.99 and quicker bracket cars! :o

Lee, it is the Euro Finals. THE event at Santa Pod! Well over 300 teams, Top Fuel,  Lebau the 5 sec rocket bike guy, fire works and 5 days of racing. And I believe the weather forecast is really promising as well.

You can find the program on the Santa Pod homepage.

How cool is that? I wish I went to a school like that :)

Rich Merriman won't be there as his car is still in bits  :(

Thanks everyone, car is a completely different beast now,the rear suspension change really made all the difference and the car now feels like it actually wants to go down the track rather than towards the wall,it amazes me how bad the previous suspension was and how I managed to even go 9.30s with it.
Now I can concentrate on making little changes and improvements each time I go to the track and learn rather than hoping it wouldnt crash :o

There is no way it would have gone that straight before.

Unfortunately I had a gearbox problem[just to stop any stories, the gearbox was supllied from the USA and only had 10 passes on it] when I shifted into 4th yesterday something broke which allowed the engine to over rev and bent a valve so we are now back home, hopefully there is nothing too bad and I can get it fixed in time for Bitburg in 2 weeks time and have some more fun there :)

Then over the winter everything will get checked, replaced as needed and made ready for next year and start chipping away at the ET towards the 7s,that was always the plan for this car and will not change.
I have got some aero stuff i have made but didnt get a chance to test this week so that will come next time

I have to thank Kris & everyone at Paradise motorsport for all there help over the last 2 years and now for the new rear suspension "kit" he supplied, you know what you are getting when it has already been tested on the only VW door car to run 7s  and also Russell for all his help in a variety of ways, thanks :)

As you can here in the video I had a strange misfire in 4th gear on every pass which I still need to identify and then the mph should pick up by 15-20mph more, then it will really be moving ;D

cheers richie

Great to hear you're happier with the chassis, but shame about the engine damage... fingers crossed its minor! Looked a great run.... :)

Richie, I am pleased for you.  I thought at one point it was jinxed and you would never get it to run right.  Shame about the damage, lets hope for some good figures next year.  Fancy a head to head  :o (only joking, I don't want your pink slip!!! :P ::) ::))
