Title: Two supposedly same cams
Post by: Chris bugster on October 14, 2012, 14:04:34 pm
We ran two Scat cams in the same engine- C85 and though they are supposed to have 287 degrees of duration at 50 thou checking, the first one came out at 280 and the second one at 292. I won't even go into the difference in lift- the smaller duration one had more lift. Anyway, I mainly use Scat cams and was wondering if everyone makes cams of such vastly different specs even though they are supposedly the same or if it's just Scat.

Maybe wrong markings? Do the specs match another scat cam?

Well, the second one was close to a C75 (FK 98) on duration, but down on lift. I have a C75, but never checked what it ACTUALLY has and so am going by what the card reads.

292 @ .050" at the cam is what I have dialled in the C85 as. I like the profile but it is a big sucker.
Perhaps the other one is a mis-marked C89.

280@.050 with higher lift sounds like C89 to me also

Sounds like that's the answer then, one is just badly stamped. Thanks Gents.
