Title: Frankenstorm
Post by: j-f on October 29, 2012, 20:36:29 pm
I'm watching the news and see that things are gonna be nasty on the east coast.  :-\
I don't know if some of you are concerned about this hurricane, but I wish you good luck.

Really windy on the south shore of Long Island. Store surge is a problem with my house being only 100 yards from a inlet that leads to the Great South Bay. But luckily the street is 9ft above sea level and my house is another 5 feet above the street.

Its gonna be a long night.

I was thinking about you as I knew that you live in the NY area.

Looks like the scenario of the day after tomorrow  :-X

Here's a crane collapse on a 90 story building on 57th street in NYC.

And the worst is not here yet.

I tried calling Jeffrey and left him a message at about 5:15 our time which would have been 8:15 on the east coast.

It was very anti-climactic in my area (Pennsylvania) ... lots of preparation and no drama. And that's fine with me.

However, New Jersey and New York took a beating from what I've seen. Hope Glenn and others made it through safely.

Talked to Jeffrey a little while ago.

He's doing mostly ok. Some damage to his property but none to the house. He's got no power but is using a generator to get by. It's a real problem getting gas right now... sometimes there's a several hour wait. He's hoping that power will be restored soon.

It's nice to know that you are OK.

I also thought about people from Cuba and Haiti who are less lucky and gets a lot's of damages and lost people.  :(

Huge tragic losses and damage. Glad to hear that our east coast brethren are alright.
