Title: Where did you cruise to this weekend?
Post by: rick m on November 18, 2012, 00:24:07 am
Took the chop top on a road trip today to Scottsdale, Arizona, to display with the V8 Crowd. It was the Southwest Goodguys Nationals. As always, people are amazed when we show up with IDA topped VW motors.

Had a great time and was invited by some Porsche guys to a coffee and donuts drive in the first Saturday of December in Scottsdale, Arizona. Will be taking the car out that weekend to hang with Porsche's, Ferrari's and some other exotics. Felt pretty cool being invited by the big boys to attend their Saturday morning hangout. For those in Arizona, it is located on Scottsdale Road and Doubletree Drive in Scottsdale on the first Saturday of December, 7:00am to 10:00am.

Here are a couple shots from the Goodguys show today.

[attachment=1][attachment=2] It was real fun driving the ’66 around lake Balaton yesterday. Autumn sun, empty roads and the stunning view of the lake…

Wow.....hard to beat the scenery and views you enjoyed cruising around the lake.  Where is that located? I love the old buildings and architecture.

Where is Balaton located? It's the biggest lake in central Europe(Hungary) 77x~10 km I think, it's very shallow - it gets warm very quickly so it always was (and still is) a great touristic attraction (in communist era it was THE place to be). Views like this can be found everywhere in this area.

After visiting many different countries in Europe, I don't think there is any bad scenery anywhere.  Have visited France, Spain, Italy, Austria, the Chech republic, Hungary, England and Germany. Fortunately our company has allowed me to attend some business trips to many of these locations.  I look to get over there again in the future. You guys are fortunate to have so much history in your cultures, as well as incredible architecture to enjoy.

A dream trip would be shipping my chop top to Europe and spending about 6 weeks over there. That would be the ultimate VW road trip for me.

One hour drive from the capital. We have our mid summer club meeting by the lake every year. [attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3]

What an awesome place to cruise to.  In Arizona we have the choice between desert, high desert and even higher desert. LOL
