Title: Bonnet badges...again Post by: Matty c on November 30, 2012, 14:57:48 pm I know there was a previous post regarding bonnet (hood) badges but what I want to know wasn't mentioned in that post, how are badges such as d.k.p & the green hearts to name two held on? Do they have pins like the standard Vw badge or are they simply held on with some kind of adhesive tape & if that's the case how easy are they to remove if needed? In all the pictures of bonnet badges that I have seen I can't ever recall seeing the back of one ???

Title: Re: Bonnet badges...again Post by: Geoff P DVKK on November 30, 2012, 19:53:15 pm Our DVKK badges have a threaded post. On some cars we removed the post and used 3m adhesive tape.
Hope this helps. Title: Re: Bonnet badges...again Post by: johnl on November 30, 2012, 21:34:33 pm The original DKP badges had two threaded post that required drilling holes in the hood for installiation.
Title: Re: Bonnet badges...again Post by: Matty c on November 30, 2012, 22:12:51 pm Thanks for the info Geoff & John, out of interest how were the threaded posts attached to the badge? We're they brazed on? I can't imagine they were thick enough to drill & tap the back so it must have been some other method?

Title: Re: Bonnet badges...again Post by: johnl on December 01, 2012, 02:46:02 am Who can make these today? I think Art Alvarez (DKP I) had some made for DKP II & possibly III. I know that he has a display board with a few generations of them. If memory serves me the first generation badges were $5 or $7 each and I think we had 50 made. Don't remember if there was ever a second run of them done. Times have certainly changed and those prices would not work in today's world.
