My motor uses a Denzo type alternator that I got from a motor factor in Oxford for about £100. It is exactly the same as the JayCee one I had but 12v rather than 16v. My engine should go to about 9k rpm. The Denzo alternator is used on loads of production cars- I think mine is off a fork lift truck of all things.
