The members of GEZUVOR VW Club from Switzerland would like to express their sincere condoleances. Our thoughts are with the Herbert family. The Super Shit Box which our club member Olivier Dido bought from Mark will always be a very special memory to us and it will be kept in honour. And it will be raced the way it was intended by its builder... RIP Mark Herbert.

Sad, sad news indeed. I never knew Mark, but I understand he was a sigificant contributor to the VW-scene first of all in the US, but his name is widely known, and always spoken with great respect here in Europe too. My deepest condolances to his friends and family.

It might have been easier to hear about Mark passing away while staying in Europe. We just met for a few hours when I stayed in the US in 2000 and 2004. We had some e-mail contact, especially in the early days of the Cal Look-Forum. Now everything was different. Thursday afternoon at Express Burger in HB we talked about the latest May Cruise Madness T-shirt and that he really wanted to have one, later in the evening at Irwindale I asked him about a Turbo buggy, which was really fast on the 1/8 mile. And then, just 26 hours later at the DKP Cruise Night my friend Stephan Szantai walked towards me, with a very sad face and brought the news, news beyond belief.

Mark, even if I knew not much of you, I just want to thank you for the time we spend together, thanks for the tips and thanks for the funny stories you could tell! RIP! California will never be the same again!
