      OK, first let me start by saying that using an OEM shroud is not possible at this time due to how narrow my motor is.  I had a nice Thing shroud but couldn't get my carbs on so I sold it.

      I have a cherry, OEM mag, alternator stand that I am trying to use with OEM backing plates on my motor.  The problem I am facing is that because the Scat shroud has the backing plate holes clocked my alternator does not fit square on the stand.  The stand has the bump on it that corresponds with the indentation on the bottom of the alternator.  I could easily use an aftermarket, aluminum, stand but don't really want to.  Should I file the bump on the stand off or modify the alternator?  Bruce would say to modify the cheaper part, which I may do, and Zach would say to run a generator but I assume someone else has had this problem before.

If pictures would make it easier I can post some up.

I had a similar problem and decided to "dimple" the OEM doghouse shroud, so that the IDA's would clear...right near the blue banjo fittings:

I wish that was a solution I could have pursued Neil.  I would have had to use a BFH to get the clearance I needed.  The fuel inlet didn't hit the shroud, it was the carb body.

I have an OEM stand, refurbed Bosch alternator, and Scat 36 doghouse shroud. I didn't notice the problem you're running into on mine.

I'd just modify the stand if it won't affect integrity.

I have the exact same setup on my car with no issues. Except it's a new Bosch alternator.  Have also installed on many other cars with OEM stands and Scat shrouds.  Dave Rhoads

Lucky for you guys!!  I'm not so lucky.  With the backing plates being clockedslightly the Bosch alt won't sit down all the way.

I've installed that combo a hundred times over the years, never had a problem. What brand of alt is it? I've never seen one with anything on the underside that would prevent it from sitting correctly. Pix?

Just take it over to Walker and ask him to narrow that shroud.....I'm sure he can do it !!!

I used IDA manifolds that offset the carbs a little more and top fed my IDAs instead of using the banjo's. I could have used the banjo's as I did not have any clearance issues with the SCAT shroud....

Well I fixed it!  I had to elongate the two backing plate holes where they mount to the alternator.  This allowed me to rotate the alternator, clockwise,  so that the bump in the stand would fully engage in the recess on the bottom of my new Bosch alternator.  All I needed to do was counteract the clocking of the fan shrouds anti-clockwise backing plate location. 

Also, Rick,   even moving the fuel lines on top wouldn't fix my fan shroud problem.  My motor is pretty narrow.

Taylor...running short rods, serious flycut for compression or destroked?  Just curious?

It has 1"compression height pistons and is flycut a lot.

What compression height does a stroker Cima have?

I think they are 1.340".  This motor is a little over an inch narrower.  I had to cut .600" off of the bottom of both cylinder head tins to get them on the motor.
