Be the boss and pay someone else to do the work for you. Right after high school I worked for an industrial construction company. (That job convinced me to go to college btw.) The owner ran the company from his 90 foot yacht down on the coast. Part of my job was to drive down there each day and get the day's orders for our various crews on the job sites. (We built big plants and government installation) He kept a guy on the payroll to do nothing but maintain the twin turbo diesel power plants on that thing so he could sail up and down the coast when he wanted too. Funny thing is, in the year I worked there I only saw him take it out twice.

Time for Gin & Tonic on the patio tonight (100 degrees today at our place).  Bought a bottle of Damrak (on Greg Brinton's recommendations) to try out, so we'll see how that goes down.  We've tried Boodles and Tanquerray lately and enjoyed them both.

i just can't get into Gin. More of a vodka guy. Its been hitting the 90s - 100s here all week. Can't even get out in the garage at night to do much to the '67. I am thinking Mike's Hard Lemonade for tonight.

It's not an age thing. My drink of choice in College was T 'n' Ts (Tanqueray & Tonic)'

I can't get into gin either. I can drink just about anything else but Gin tastes like Pine Sol, Dot 4 brake fluid and rubbing alcohol to me. We drank a large bottle of Tanqueray Ten at Sac Bug-O and the first 3 or 4 drinks were hardly palatable to me.  At this moment I'm drinking a MacTarnahan's Amber Ale but I'll probably switch to Captain Morgan's and Coke before the nights over.

*edit* I picked up a jug of Meyer's Dark Rum. It tastes more like a cheap oak barrel aged Bourbon than Rum.

Had some Kutch Russian River Valley Pinot Noir last night with one of those Costco rotisserie chickens...that's what life's all about  8) 8)

I had a bottle of 2005 Bear Creek (Cave Junction, Oregon) Pinot Noir Saturday night. It went perfect with my grilled tenderloin. Yummy! 2005 was a great year for wines here in southern Oregon.

The wife and I have been enjoying some really nice wines from Chili lately. Had a good Pinot last night with some lasagna.

Then he worked out that he knew what the buildings were, but he was more used to seeing them from the Protestant side of town, not the Catholic side that he slowly realised he was in! :o ;D

one night sheep and I were driving from Livermore to Pleasanton at 2:00am, down Stanley Blvd, which is about 8 miles long, straight and flat, and remote...only thing out there is waterslides one one side and rock quarry on the other. We're headed west at about 70mph in my car, and we blow by this big figure walking in the gravel along side the road. He had to have been 7'5" tall, and even stranger, the guy was wearing a tuxedo and taking strides like a giant. We were on our way to get coffee at some 24 hr coffee shop. Both of us saw the guy, but neither of us said anything to the other, until an hour later. Still wondering what was up.

While suntanning my feet in Viet Nam many years ago, the beer of choice (the ONLY choice) was Beer 33.  I work with a Vietnamese mechanic, and one day, I asked if he could come up with any of the old "pain killer" (this beer had an amazing amount of alchohol...one got you a buzz, two got you loopy, three you had to be helped out of the bar  :o ::)).  Well, I got my six-pack but, unfortunatly, the exported brew doesn't contain the same high octane as the original...(it doesn't taste like embalming fluid either).

just tasted a westvleteren, according to rateit.com the best beer in the world, (according to the new york times it's westmalle, an other belgian beer, also not to bad :D) it comes from a small belgian abbey, called The Abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren, they make a living by selling there beer, but you can only order it one week per year, and there is only one café that's allowed to sell the westvleteren, a friend of mine had to cal over 350times to get in, and he could only order 2 cases of beer per licenceplate, it sure was worth it, 10.8% and it get's right to the head  ;D

Fresh poured Southern Hemisphere Ale from Sierra Nevada. I stopped by the brewery on my way home from Bug-O-Rama. It's brewed with hops imported from New Zealand and it is VERY hoppy. They don't even bottle it. So I brought a 1 gallon jug and they filled it for me. Very good stuff.

As far as I know it's only available in Chico at the brewery. If you like VERY hoppy beers like me, it is worth the drive from So Cal. I wish I had a few more hours to spend there, but it's no fun driving over the Siskiyous drunk as shit. Vomit City for sure. I would have loved to try one of their Chico Estate Harvest Ales with on site grown hops. Next month I'm making a special trip.  ;D

If you can find the Stone Russian Imperial Stout down there, it is much much better. Stone Brewing is in Sandy Eggo so they are almost local to you. They are $7.00 each up here but one is all you need.

When we have a family-party and it's in my house,then we drink Chimay blue.

And when I'm on vacation(south of Spain) I drink Tinto de verano(mix from red wine & limonade)

Total Domination India Pale Ale from Ninkasi Brewing (Eugene, Oregon) Unfiltered 6.7% ABV and very delicious. Extremely hoppy but super smooth. It's like magic in a bottle.

I have met my match and it is called Dogfish Head 120 Minute India Pale Ale. 21% ABV and 120 IBUs. I drank this one 12oz bottle over a 45 minute period and it got better as it got warmer. If I popped open another I don't think I could find my bed. It made my wallet a bit light too, $9.50 for a 12oz. bottle. Definitely a beer to beat ALL beers.

My friend Robert Kolb (Hophead on other VW forums) is a senior brewer at SNB. He gave me a heads up a few months ago. It was a seasonal in years past, but they decided to do it year round. If you like lots of bold hops, you'll love this one, and 7.2% ABV to boot. Bigfoot Barleywine (9.6% ABV) should be out now, but my local beer stores have not received any yet. Another SNBbrew you must try is the Harvest Wet Hop. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Very good. Sheep, Soda(Bryan Wenzel) and myself had a few pitchers at Sierra Nevada back in November.

Tonight's choice is a wonderfully delicious Moylan's Hopsickle Triple Imperial IPA. 9.2% and stupidly hoppy.

Tonight's brew is a 22oz. Black Gold Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout from Full Sail Brewing (Hood River, Oregon)10.5% Abv. It's aged for 10 months in used bourbon barrels. One of the best beers I have ever had in my life, very complex. Notes of chocolate, honey, coconut, molasses, vanilla, a small touch of coffee and of course bourbon whiskey and oak with a hot alcohol burn to it. Very nice on a cold winter night. Worth every penny of the $10 price tag.  :o Man I could go broke drinking this stuff. :'(

Tonight's brew is a Hammerhead Pale Ale from McMenamin's Edgefield facility in Troutdale, Oregon. Not great, but really good for the $2.50/22oz. bottle. Closer to and IPA with it's strong hop back bone, but it lacks in the high ABV like a real IPA.

Damn I feel for you. It was $3.99+.05 deposit for one 22oz. of the Hop Stoopids and I'm onto #3. I'll probably be just as drunk after 3 of these as you will be after 12 of your Taurinos. I can't drink Lagers is my problem, they give me stomach pains and gas something fierce. Believe me I've tried my fair share and always come to the same conclusion.

The trick to drinking lager is to eat a good curry at the same time... ;D

Tonight's beer is a beer I've been saving for about a year -Avery Brewing's Samael's Oak Aged Ale 15.53% ABV. I'm five sips (+1 22oz. Ninkasi Total Domination IPA) into this one and feeling it. Very sweet with lots of vanilla, toffee, orange zest, maybe sour cherries, obviously Oak and hot alcohol. It's almost too syrupy, very decadent. I don't know if I can finish this one beer because I will be destroyed drunk. I should have let this age for another year or 2.

Yet another outstanding beer from Lagunitas -Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale 7.7%. The packaging did not specify what kind of ale it was so bought it knowing Lagunitas only makes phenomenal beers. I got it home and drained 3 before I got on the interweb and found out it is a wheat ale (aka Hefeweisen)with a shitttttt load of hops added. I usually only drink Hefe's if that is all that's left but this one is very different. Very floral, lot's of piney, citrusy notes, slightly sweet, bready and lot's of hops. I may have to polish off the rest.  ::) ;D Another A+ for Lagunitas Brewing.

It's a seasonal limited release and their seasonals tend to go fast. I wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it and melt it in the spring time and drink it!

My local Albertson's (Lucky/Sav-On) gas station mis-marked some Ninkasi Brewings (Eugene, Oregon) Tricerahops Double IPAs for $2.99 for a 22oz. bottle. They usually sell for $5.99-6.99 ea.  depending on where you get them. So I bought 4 cases (12/case). This is the shop fridge.

Whatever I want!..Whenever I want!.. I'm retired! (unless I'm driving) I love food,beer,wine and spirits from almost everywhere. I can't wait to try more tasty bits and good drink, whether its barley beer in Tibet, Pils in Ger, OUZO in Greece, I love it.

2009 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, 13% ABV. One of the best beers I have ever drank. Aged in used Bourbon whiskey barrels for at least 1 year, extremely complex. Lots of honey, vanilla, chocolate and caramel hints.

The guys at BrewDog makes som wikked beer and I have been wanting to try a Paradox for a while. Just tried Isle of Arran, 10% ABV. Really smooth with lots of flavours and a light smoky, roasty whisky taste. About EUR 4,5 for a 330ml over here.

I'll continue the stout trend since its the time of year for it. Steelhead Extra Stout from Mad River Brewing Company. It's best served cool, not cold, and in a glass. They have many good beers and the brewery is 20 min from my house.
