Title: Going dual carb on the 1641 - more info needed
Post by: Lee.C on July 13, 2007, 00:35:22 am
Ok more question for you guys  ::) :)

I already have a bunch of Weber 40dcn's and I am bidding a pair ofscat manifolds on ebay BUT if you notice the carb mount backwards when compared with Race trim and DDS items (see pic's)

So my question is what type of linkage should I use  ??? Anyone had any experience with dual dcn's  ???

Any advice would be good guys  :)

are you sure it mounts backwards, the deano logo would be facing the spark plug, and those scat ones would be the same?

We ran a set of 42 DCNF's on racetrim manifolds on a 1914cc...
Was used with a simpel push/pull DDS style linkage.

i'm having probs getting the orientation sorted in my head, do you have any side on pics?  the face which rests on the cylinder head is angled, then the manifold bends to get the carb face horizontal.  I'm still sure its the same?

And if they are different, doens't make any odds, you just move the linkage from the front to the rear of the carb, or you add an extra linkage to get it to work.  I had the same thing with my DDS manifolds and IDA's, i had to add an extra lozenge to get them to work as they were now push and pull

here you go dude this should clear it up - but thanks for the info I'm sure I will sort it out some how  :)

if you look at the scat one with the carb on it on the left you will see that it is facing the same way as the dds items - you see  ;) :)

the scat logo is on the inside nearest the fan housing as is the dds logo - BUT the carb mounts the other way  :)

Lee, just been looking at my old SCAT catalogs (1969, 1970, 1977).

they use a push pull linkage like the DDS one, one carb is connected via the  front(#3&#4)  the other is connected via the rear of the carb (#1&#2).

Bugpack now make the same linkage so you can use that.  Don't use this Scat one, but ti does the same :)

Thunderbug used twin 40's on one of their setups it has the same configuration as the DDS 3 bolt manifolds, they use the DDS linkage, but this time, both arms are connected to the front of the carbs.  the problem is that the carbs are not handed.  I will post some pics if they come out okay on my camera.

csp linkage might be good also. i think the kadron system works also like this one... might call gunther from csp for more info though

Cheers dude - But I prefer the 3 bolt DCN's - those 4 bolt thingies are abit common  ;) :)
