I have a new Scat 84mm flange crank, all type 4 mains and chevy rod journal, with matching new flywheel already cut for your clutch set up if that helps at all? I know is not exactly what you need, but its all I have here at the moment cheers Richie Title: Re: 82mm flanged crank Post by: Tekken on May 19, 2013, 21:32:18 pm Hey,
Udo- well, unfortunately I need all type 4 mains. Bugpack are sold out, Vwparts,Revmaster and others the same.. Richie -that might be an solution if I can't find a 82mm, thanks. Found cracks on my crank, so I think grinding it is no option. You guys know a lot of people, would really appreciate if you could spread the word and help me track one down. AJ Sims wrote he has IAP flanged cranks, I have no experience with that crank and the quality of it, but if it fits my flywheel it could also be an solution. Stian Title: Re: 82mm flanged crank Post by: Tomi on May 20, 2013, 07:02:17 am I have IAP 88mm flange crank in my street engine and rev limiter is set is at 8500rpm, so far no failure. It looks like a quality crank, it's a lot "bigger" than Revmaster or Bugpack, see the picture (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rWQnppV-AbU/TQ4ZfydY92I/AAAAAAAAAcY/2uK-ed9Z3zE/s1600/TJS_2975.jpg), and uses same flywheel bolt pattern, 6 pins/ 6 bolts. I wouldn't hesitate using one again, but then again your engine makes three times more power.
Title: Re: 82mm flanged crank Post by: richie on May 20, 2013, 09:08:30 am I will do, I do have a new 82m scat, but its on my bench in USA with rods bolted to it, we tried the IAP cranks, it took checking 5 to get one that had the same stroke on all journals!!!!!
Have you mailed or PMed Rick Sadler to see if bugpack have any? he is a really good person to deal with I have mailed Scat to see what they have in stock cheers Richie Title: Re: 82mm flanged crank Post by: Tekken on May 21, 2013, 16:30:45 pm Thanks again,
I emailed Rick, but he did not know when they got cranks for sale again. How much difference in stroke did the IAP cranks that you testet have Richie..? Hope Scat have one on the shelf, please let me know when they get back to you. Title: Re: 82mm flanged crank Post by: richie on May 21, 2013, 19:38:52 pm I am thinking 0.5mm difference on one journal, but I have asked the person who did the measuring to verify
Scat only have 86 & 8mm cranks in stock, and they quoted approx 8 weeks to have the next batch finished. Peter, Bryant don't do type 4 mains, only Chrysler. Roger or Shawn might have something cheers Richie Title: Re: 82mm flanged crank Post by: drgouk on May 21, 2013, 21:59:20 pm Hi Richie,
Arent type 4 and Chrysler mains the same dia? I only thought the thrust width was wider on the Chrysler bearing. I have one in my SS/VX car, Bobby Miller has one in his Johnny Lesso built Turbo Pro Mod car, Hector Urias had one is his draw thru turbo car that ran 8.88 and Steve Tims ran one as well. However I believe IAP only has 84mm in stock. AA Performance Products, Inc. has at least one 82mm flanged forged crank and 7 or 8 82mm flanged BILLET cranks. (I know because I'm the General Manager there.) Tekken PM me and we can talk about it.cheers Richie |
