Title: Clutch Management
Post by: Greg G on June 16, 2013, 20:06:03 pm
After having issues with traction, we stepped up fro a 6" slick to a 8.5" slick. With that extra tire grip we knew we needed to be able to control the clutch engagement when leaving the line. With us running a stock cable I we had very few choices in C/M. We had a anti-shocker on the trans clutch arm but had trouble with it not lasting very long in the hot area of trans in a street driven car.
To our rescue was Muffler Mike. With some modifications to the present design he runs in his S/C car, he build me a C/M that connects to the clutch pedal and mounts to the floor pan of the car. There is a handle to engage the C/M when staging and once the clutch is let out the handle latches and the clutch operates like normal for the remaining gears.
If you watch the video, you can see we have the ability to have the clutch come on hard and the car wheelies or come on slow and the car does not wheelie or anywhere in between.

Great set up. Is there a link to show how to construct one? What's the engine and trans combo and pb?

You would need to just copy what you see. Or you could contact Muffler Mike and see what he wants to make the main parts.

The motor is a 2332, fk-87 cam, super flow heads 44x38 valves, cheap T66 turbo and 750 VS Holley. T1 trans, super diff, 3.78, 2.07, 1.50, 1.09, 3.88r&p. 26" tire.
