Hi

We were thinkin' of tanking the ferry Kiel-Oslo
but it's about 860 € for both directions with car & tailer. :P

That ferry is costly.

i think it's about a 10 hour drive from Kiel to SCC. Around 1000km.

Car with trailer is rather expensive I think.

I see different options:

- Find a ro-ro service from a port near by to Norway. They are usually much cheaper but do not offer restaurants, party, drinks and good tax free shopping.
- Drive through Denmark -  Sweden to Norway. Time, diesel cost and road taxes to be considered
- Ferry service from Denmark to Oslo. Not so expensive compared to Kiel-Oslo. They also have nice trailer/car discounts if you book well in advance.

As it is about 1100km from Vienna to Kiel  :P
It will take about 12 hours with the trailer  :P :P
so we were trying to find an affordable ferry (no party and taxfree necessary) to get to SCC w/o another 1000Km. :P :P :P

Kalle might pitch in later on but this is what I got so far.

Directly to Oslo, there is not a lot of different options regarding the normal passenger ferries.

There is:

Kiel - Oslo (Color Line)
Copenhagen - Oslo (DFDS Seaways)
Fredrikshavn - Oslo (Stena Line)

From Hirtshals (also Denmark) you can take the ferry to Larvik in Norway (190-200km from SCC) There is good highway connections from Larvik to SCC with 90-100km/h almost all the way.
Kiel - Gothenburg might also be a option, but it is a 350km highway trip (really nice roads) to SCC.

I did not check prices yet :)

Not sure what to say really apart from.... DAM... Vienna. Talk about living in the middle of everything. Mucho MUCHO respect for considering bringing your car to Scandinavia.

If I was you I would also have considered attending the Bug Run Classic Event at the fantastic Tierp Arena the weekend before SCC in order to get max action for the time and money it will take you to get here. Bug Run Classic is a two day event with racing on Friday and Saturday. You should stay overnight to Sunday and enjoy the show before you head towards Gardermoen and SCC. The drive from Tierp to Gardermoen is about 8 hours with a car and trailer and I do believe there is someone else planing to attend both events.

All in all your looking at a total of 4149 km from VIENNA - TIERP - SCC - VIENNA. According to google that equals 45 hours of driving: http://goo.gl/maps/I57ms  I would have looked at the trip as a vacation. Take your time, enjoy and race at some of the best tracks in Europe.

Mexx, we are in the same position as you, just coming from a different starting place :)

I am just planning this years trip, we will travel to Tierp 1st, then on to SCC for the following weekend, the cheapest way for us is of course the longest, using the dover-dunkerque ferry then driving up to get the puttgarden- rodby ferry and then driving on to tierp is 1310 miles[ 2108km ] just to get to Tierp, SCC is another day driving
I have only taken this route travelling back and it is hard work doing all the driving and that was in a comfortable T5 VW transporter, doing it in the lorry would be a killer
My other option is Harwich to Esbjerg, across Denmark to Grenaa in Sweden, then drive to tierp, much less driving but the cost is quite a lot!!!!!! about £1800 for the ferries alone to get there[tierp] and back from Gardermoen after

When we have travelled just to SCC I have tried most routes, there is never a cheap easy way to do it for us, 2 days driving and you get there tired and the fuel cost soon adds up if you are towing, or  to sit on an overnight ferry from Harwich to esbjerg, then a 4 hour drive to another ferry from Hirtshals to Larvik [ or oslo] and about a 4[ or 2 from oslo] hour drive to gardermoen

It would be really cool to see you at both events with the Ghia, if you can manage to extra time to do both events it makes it a lot easier financially to justify with 2 races at top tracks in that time :)  well if it doesn't r*** :o

cheers Richie

There is a ferry from Travemünde(near Lübeck) to Malmö.
That ferry leaves Germany around 23:00 and arrives Sweden 07:00 ish.
From Malmö to SCC there is about 6,5 hours drive.
I live in Oslo, and use this ferry when I am going to Germany.
Prices fluctures, but I think we paid around 350 Euro last time. (2 persons, Transporter T5 + trailer, and OK cabin to sleep in)

See you at SCC :)
