Title: Removing materiel from the face of the case instead of the end of the barrel.
Post by: Martin Greaves on August 27, 2013, 19:16:46 pm
Can a safe amount of materiel be removed from the face of the case where the barrels would sit, instead of making the barrels shorter.

If so how much would that amount be.

Thanks Martin

Yes, you can deck/face the case. The depth of cut depends on how deep the imperfections are, and how much deck height you want  (Piston top to top of cylinder).

Thanks I already understand all of that.

I have just picked up a NOS AS21 case but someone had accidental machined it wrong when cutting it for 94mm pistons.

So what I'm after is the safe amount that can be removed from the face of the case without making that area of the case to weak.
