Title: Color question, idea, advice for a Bay window to be Cal look...
Post by: j-f on September 27, 2013, 18:38:37 pm
Hi all,
I'm working on my'74 bay window Cal look project that hopefully will go to the body shop for paint this winter.
I can't make my mind about the color. Originally, it was white. It has been repainted 2 or 3 times, so I sand it to bare metal to avoid any paint reactions.
Finding a nice color for a vehicle this size and shape is not that easy and I want to find something that stand out of the crowd, that is tasty and classy and that suits the Cal look theme I'm looking after.
I really like this color. Do somebody know this bus or have an idea about the paint code?

I'm also considering Toga white,

And Granada red (I can't find a good pics right now, but I saw it in the April 2009 Volksworld issue on a variant and it also looks great... )

 ;)

toga white is an off-white color. see it as a grey-white (george's type34 is that color)

What era of Cal Look are you trying to achieve for your bus?
70's? Green, brown, yellow...
80's? Pepermint, raspberry, salmon...
90's? Stock color...

I liked a lot a green Bay on SlotMags seen this year at Volksworld.

More an actual Cal look treatment, not a replica of the 70's or 80's. Plain color, no dual tone, lowered but not slammed with a bit of rake, no camper interior, updated interior but in classic style.
I already have a set of 911 6" wheels in OEM finish.
I don't want to follow rules, but apply my idea of an actual Cal look bus with my own taste  ;)

That's why I like it  ;) "VDB"'s notchback (remember, he did the Walifornia tour with us) is the same color.

I don't want to reinvent the wheel, but I never see a bay window that actually suits my view of a Cal look. So I will try to do one. ;)

This is what I'm talking about! Nice one  ;)
Do you have a side picture to show actual stance? And how did you get it lowered?
