Cheers guys  ;D My personal favourite is the Black one on Fuchs at Volksworld show - I spoted this car from a mile away  :) Everything about it is just spot on!

Here's a pic of what I might be starting with - its still in California :)

I love the look of an 67`US with the long frond hood and the -67 Fenders and lamps. The first car that I`ve seen in this look was the car of Gary Berg, the metallic blue one with an 2 litre Engine on IDA`s , it was in the early 80 and the mag was Hot VW`s.

SUCK!

  ;)

Just look at this piece of crap...

Hardly cool is it? Dirty stinking wheels. That gay decklid. Stupid noisey engine.

Take my advice - don't bother with a '67.

Yes it was rebuilt... one of the english mags featured it after the rebuild... I think

Post by: Mangokid on July 06, 2006, 13:27:42 pm
What kind of centerlines does it sport, jaix...they should not be on any street driven VW.

Anyways, that was one of very few cars that really stood out from the crowd, even when wearing BRMS, which i'm sick of seeing all the time by the way. A car don't automatically go cal-look just by someone adding BRMS and dropping the nose.

Well anything really, but I do love Steet Dragon as I have already said and all the dkp cars are truly inspirational, I am just trying to get a picture in my mind of what I really want - Like with the buggy I knew exactly what is going to look like from day one, I must have taken ideas from over 100 different buggies both new and old so show me what you got buddy  ;)

Here's another pic of what I might be starting with  :) A diamond in the rough  ???

Actually, the 67 you identify as Doug Mische was actually Scott Bakkens.  I think that this is the same car that later became "Scotts Medfly" and then later the Car Custome sponsored 67

They are avaliable through Mid America Motorworks.

You're right

but you need an installation kit that's more expensive than the sole headlight  :-\

Just noticed that he has two different fenders on the car. Looks like the one on the drivers side is a repro..

No all US 67 had two different fenders.  :P

Going to start trouble here.........

Honestly....isnt the reason we all love BRMs is due to the history and functionality of this famous wheel.  The BRM isnt exactly the most aesthetically pleasing design of all time in fact most people outside of the VW hobby tend to think that they are GASP.....ugly! :o

I don't think Deano or Eric had plans to put their wheels on the street ( at least not right away ) however Eric did later on offer a extra spacer between the front wheels for the street. The original design was for "race use only". ;) So, being said that, I believe the main idea was to keep the weight off to, to win races. not to give it the so call pretty look!

"simplicity at it's best"

12.39 on pump gas (90 degrees F)
12.20 with a splash of prop and 50/50 race fuel (spinning the tires at Cbad)
10.86 with the hairdryer.

Cool part is that all those #s were done with 40mm intake valves.   :)

Art, i was on my Ercos and slicks for all of those runs.  The PO typically knocked about .15 off of my ET and maybe added 1 -1.5 mph.  That run at Carlsbadwas in great air and would have probably been a low 12.teen if i could have got a good sixty foot....possibly even a high 12.0 .  I spun the tires really hard!

I've got a 12 second timing slip, but some people reckon you need both front and rear wheels behind the line  ???

With the old motor (2109) it ran 14.0's all day long wheel spinning like a mofo. I've got a lairy 2276 going in that i hope will do easy low 13's on street tyres without breaking anything, and 12's on M&H's if it doesn't smash the box to a million pieces  :D

The '67 is Curlie's car and the Porsche is from DVF fellow member Kevin. The picture was taken at the old F1 circuit in Reims.

That's a new build that belongs to club member Dustin Patrasek... it's a 1969 and got a full pan-off restoration.
I'm thinking the motor is a 2332 or 2376; lots of nice stuff on board!

Great pics there Sarge, that sun just seems to add an extra dimension to the colour of your cars. Something i'm very jealous of, with our watery sun here in Scotland.

Just a couple of old fellas hanging out.

sure jim ! I'm not sure you remember but we met like a year or two ago at bens house in whittier, anyway's i had a 67 that i sold and used to the proceeds to move to las vegas in 1998 and thought i would be out of the vw scene forever ( haha ) so about 4 years ago a friend found an almost complete car for my here in the las vegas area, i loved the car but i didn't want the motor as i was recently planning on building a new car i truly wanted an old school cal look motor ! so we purchased the car and he took the motor and i kept the car now for the details on the motor
at it's heart is an old school 76 ems crank with rimco super rods and flywheel which i acquired from Art gutierrez
next up was a set of mahle/cima 94 pistons and barrels and dual relief engine case from D and A racing all additional machine work was done at rimco
for head work i went with CB performance super pro heads 44x37.5 with skat track manifolds match ported by CB performance and CB 1.4 rockers
the carbs were pulled apart and polished by jay cee ent
oil is run through a 4 quart berg sump and filterd through an O'berg filter
the motor was built by dave mcfarlane (mighty mouse)
all fuel lines and oil lines were also fabbed by dave from tmr lines and fittings (all black !)
the CR on the motor is a healthy 10:1 and it has plenty of get up and go !
